this is the 3rd review i've seen for this case, and all three reviewers focused on how the case looks without the hdd gear, I am specifically LOOKING for how the build experience is with the use of the HDD's , because that is what I am interested in. good review kyle, thanks!

I have gotten that vibe ALOT from him Lately. Still a great video maker, love his content, but the last like Month or 2 has been pretty shocking the low amount of research he has done before talking about a product, including on Awesome Hardware. Funny enough, his most researched video I have seen in the past month was on an automated Litter Box, for a cat. It was actually quite informative as I have 2 cats, but it was kind of shocking how prepared he was for that one, compared to some of his other recent videos, lol. Still Love ya Kyle, but ya slippin, lol.

Thank you for this review and build. It helped me make the decision to go with this case for my first build. I am not a gamer and not into RGB so I bought a black R6 with no Window as I am more into quiet and a pleasing aesthetic. Although I have no need for it at this time, mine came with the front USB-C as that model was actually cheaper than the available non USB-C versions. I have a Ryzen 5-3600 and an RX580 GPU on the Tomahawk Max, which is Ryzen 3000-ready. Unfortunately, the Tomahawk Motherboard does not have a port on it for the front-panel USB-C, so that will be useless just as in your build. I am not overclocking but was concerned about the heat and air flow as I will be keeping the top closed, so I am installing a Sythe Mugen RevB. The case is really well made and sturdy. The fact that the top panel comes off makes hooking up the CPU power a breeze, even with the cooler attached. I also am a dinosaur who needs a 5.25 drive bay, so will be keeping the 'wall' in place but only using one, or possibly two of the drive trays which should allow for better air flow. I think this is still (Nov. 2019) one of the best mid-tower cases on the market.

I still use optical drives, Kyle! Stop oppressing me!! In fact, I bought the case for my build based on the sheer number of drive mounts and 5.25 bays. Six internal bays and 3 optical bays. Used one of the optical bays for a drawer to put spare wires and connectors in. Very nice...

If you use the insulated panel in place of the glass as well as forego the moduvent this case is extremely silent. with 2 bottom mounted 140mm fans you can keep an OC'd 1080ti blower card under 70c at all times. This is the exact config i build for my sister and nephew to do business and gaming on.
@Lenny-zn8hn4 жыл бұрын
bought it for my new build. impressed with the weight and sturdiness already, got it for 90€. its price decreased a bit over the years! I'm opting for a silent build without HDDs and good enough airflow.
@Emexrulsier6 жыл бұрын
Just to add when mounting a rad at the top of this case if using vengence ram, you need to mount it towards the glass front and not at the back like you did. The reason is because the fans hit the memory heatsink. If then you want a 360 rad you have to change the direction of the HDD mounting to the other side otherwise the rad would hit the memory and.or HDD bracket.
@Enju236 жыл бұрын
I can't wait for this case to show up in stores, Then I will be able to put my water cooling loop together, and still use every part, trying to do it in the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv was fun, and I loved the look of it. But this Fractal case looks super sexy, being flexible by letting you have a 360mm rad on top or even in front of the case, with a 240mm rad on top allowing an optical drive, something I've been wanting for quite a while, I won't have a good GPU waterblock to show off through a vertical mount, but that'd be pretty neat once I can get one.

the front panel header should be an entirely separate skew of the case, instead of 1 case Skew then having to buy a separate addon and having to take shit apart to swap out the front panel setup and be left with an extra one you could simply order the version you want.
@casualt22126 жыл бұрын
Possibly, or do both. Personally I like future proofing but with no type C devices at present I wouldn't deem the upgrade worth the extra cost. But if that changes later would be nice to have the option for a cheap upgrade even with the hassle it brings.
@DanielRichards6446 жыл бұрын
my big point was it's just "nickel and dime'ing" you to death to have to buy all these things as extra addons instead of having a Skew preconfigured with that, like if you want the type front panel you are now paying for a case with the regular front panel (including the cost of the regular front panel) AND for the add-on and if the MASTERCASE MAKER series is ANY indication the popular addons (like vertical GPU Bracket) will be next to impossible to get your hands on because they will be such a LOW production run and because of the low run the prices will be sky freaking high. all of this is a moot point for me anyway, I need a case that fits 2 360 rads at the same time as supporting MORE THEN 2 3.5" HDD's (preferably 4) another problem with these fractal cases, you have to basically LOSE all 3.5" drive bay support to add a res/pump combo, i've got a LOT of computer to cool, a PAIR of 1080 TI's and an overclocked 6700k, the EK configurator (do to the case I randomly selected) said I needed a 260, 240 and 120 (so 2 360's worth of area) to cool all of that.

I don't understand that Fractal thinks that people that spend 150 dollar on a case, most likely to house a pc of more than 1500 dollar, want to save 10 dollars by not having the USB type C port. For the sub 80 dollar cases, I could understand, but not with these High end cases.

Thanks for the review, it helped me see the internal layout a bit better, and helped me to imagine my possible tweak upon such. standard with top open...best of both worlds ^.^ I wish they had re-used the top mesh that the C uses but in a more easy to remove fashion as this was by far the best type that can be used on top, it just needed a little thumb slot groove in the metal of the case and the magnetic stip provides the needed potion to catch while you lift away. the side for gpu...no...soundcard...yes, if done right, it can almost help to create a wind tunnel effect with the gpu helping to suck air past its back side which normally would not happen. shame it is $30 extra A and B this so called $20 saving on standard R6 over the glass side one, nope, I think once or 2 time yes, but more oft then not is 10-$15 more for the solid side in canada, the hell is that lol. would be great if included an adapter to make all the front usb 3 at least (so modern board that can have more than ysb2 header can use as usb3 x4 on front ^.^ shame they did not do S2 wich solid front from R6 as option, so can open the door or not, no reason why should cost over $200 IMO ( not include 13% tax ofc) 3x140mm of S2 for intake, but internal offsets, drive cages etc of R6 with thumb screw drop and lock PSU shroud (to give room for 140-200-360-480 rads and still have a tower to have say 6 3.5/8 2.5 on a stack in front of (with the 3x ssd on the back of mobo) I always looked at the define ones and love the pull out from front all dust filters C had the best top dust filter included in the box R6 love the door IMO, could use the top filter from C, 3x140mm front from the S2 (even if they made when remove the 5mm drive it gives the ability, I think case would increase height max of like 2mm? ) S2 could have offered an "option" lets call "Define Airmax 6" which would be as such. ^.^

I was about to say I'd rather have the hard drives cooled by a fan to help them live longer, but I decided to do a Google search as often things that we thought were true for years are later proven wrong, and this is one of those cases. Looks like high relative humidity is a much greater threat to hard drive malfunction and failure than temps, and in a house running AC, even mounted the way they are in this build, should be cool enough to not worry about.
