Regarding controls, it's probably useful to note that it consists of three capacitive touch buttons (one under each of the icons). For swiping, I find it easiest to get it to activate if you start from the middle instead of from the edge, and you have to swipe fairly quickly to get it to work consistently.

Just got mine yesterday and I am curious about something. It came in just a regular box and not the clear plastic shiny box everyone else seems to have. Totally not a huge deal, just weird. And I will agree that they need to do some work on these things but still, what a super cool thing to have in a collection!

I got the bitzee on July 4 it’s fun to play because I am so busy with life for work and don’t have time to play my tamagotchi so it’s the perfect electronic pet to play for people who are too busy to have a tamagotchi can be very demanding and needy like a child or a dog and might be to difficult to play on a tamagotchi for new people I would recommend to people to buy bitzee for a beginner virtual pet for kids or adults who are too busy to get into tamagotchi.

My daughter can only read a few words, so she isn't as fond of her tamagotchi quite yet, so she loves the bitzee so much. Very simple and it's been fun for her to try and collect all the pets and evolve them!

just got this for my soon to be 6yo nephew, hope he loves it! he loved his tamagotchi but he kept letting it die. hopefully this doesnt break as easy as it seems to!

My biggest question is what the battery life is like... I mean, quickly moving the display up and down with the LEDs and the touch screen portion has to use up battery power. It doesn't look like it has a recharge port so I assume it has barrettes in it...

Would this be good for an autistic 8 year old? Do you think she would have a problem with tapping the spinning part? My sister leans more on the nonverbal side of the spectrum. She can speak, but it's more like caveman-esque sentences, her reading is not the greatest, she has meltdowns quite often, and tends not to understand things that well. She does understand video games though and knows how to play games once explained to her. She plays games on her tablet where she takes care of animals, so I think she would like something like this, but I am just concerned about the spinning part and the fact that it doesn't have written instructions for my sister to read and follow. (Ex. 'You're animal is hungry, feed them an apple'). I don't know if my sister will be able to understand what the pet wants just from a sound, symbol, or emote it does. Based of my description, do you think it would be clear enough for an autistic kid such as my sister to understand? When you pet it, what is the sensation like and do you think an autistic child would have a problem with it?
