Put it on and immediately try to start vehicle .. or.. you gotta press the boost on it and let it go for a bit

It works better if it can leave it on there for a while but the problem with that is if the battery is anything less that good the jumper will cut off and then you have to unhook it and hook it back up . I will charge for about 5 to 10 seconds and stop again with a alarm buzzing so you have to do it all again
