Vaikka se on just hyvä kun esitellään Suomi (helsinki) marraskuussa just semmosena synkkänä pummien täyttämänä mestana (niinku se on)

I lived in 3 countries and met the most amazing ones in Finland! Finnish people are wonderful, warm people. They might be "cold" at first but thats because you need to earn their trust. As soon as u know them better you realize there is no better friend than a finnish one.

This guy really got it right... bears aren't predators, wolves and lynxes are. Bears are _scavengers_. The meat they eat is usually already dead (i.e. carrions), so a word of warning: playing dead around a bear is NEVER adviced. They tend to come over and smell you since they think you're carrion; climbing into a tree is also stupid since they can climb.

Btw, the hard thing in the seal meat wasn't from a harpoon. "Luoti" means "a bullet". XD It's from a gun.

D. Va probably because they’re endangered animals and you’re not allowed to hunt them. Those which accidentally get caught in fishing nets can be used though. But previously they were part of the local diet and supposedly taste good too.

I love Hailuoto! Definately one of my favorite places on earth. My dads side of family is from there since like the 17th century. That old woman is most likely a distant relative of mine. :)

I'm a finn too and my grandmother made me eat fisheye once when I was a little kid and I loved it. It tastes like roasted salty, juicy flesh. Nothing gross there. Now I always want at least one eye when we have old school fish soup :)

I feel must hype a bit. Finland, Sweden and Norway are goelocially located on the FennoScandic tectonic shield, meaning we have one of the oldest most stable land on the Earth, meaning no volcanoes or earthquakes, Finland is safe from tsunamis, tornadoes, drought, but still enjoys clear and distinct seasons(altough winter season is becomming more ...moody).

Right, that's my experience too with ppl. from Finland.whereas almost all of my family lives in Lund, Sweden. Even they say that the Finnish are polite, well mannered, friendly and having a finnish friend is having a friend for life.

In fact, he didn't even speak swedish until he was sent to a cathedralschool in Turku when he was 14 yrs old. And even after three semesters in that school he could barely speak the language...

Well this may be true of bears in Finland but it does not apply to the bears in North America. Obviously your bears follow the example of your culture which is very nice and pleasant. I would not be surprised if your bears tango as well as so many Fins and I would not be surprised the your bears are good linguists and can speak to our bears and maybe civilize them a little. :-)

Yeah, bears can indeed "snuff you in a heartbeat", but nobody needs to be worried about them, unless you make them worried about you. They're kind of like Finns; peaceful, reserved and shy, but when provoked, and *only* when provoked, you'll get torn apart.

The difficulty of owning a pet bear in an appartment house is with the elevators when you try to take them for a walk in the central of the town. The buggers barely fit through the doors. Ah well, such is life living with bears and eating cream blood and iron for breakfast. :)

I understand that Finnish is the hardest language you've learned, that is because Finnish is one of the world's hardest language. It's in top 10! But i'm happy that you love Finland. I'm Finnish, and i speak 7 languages, Russian is one of those. For me Russian was one of the hardest. I'm glad that you respect Finland:)))

sorry for a decade old reply, but no, they were not spoiled in the least. The whole zoo/animal center was closed this year because of animal abuse and way too small enclosures. I think at least two of the animals had to be put down because of injuries that would have been impossible to treat anymore. Many of the animals had literally lost their teeth, because they were constantly gnawing on the metal fences, because of stress and too small enclosures. Basically all animals ranging from the bears to the lynxes showed signs of malnutrition, while they also were shedding fur and bleeding during a surprise inspection. The owners in this video tell that they are doing this, because they love bears and want to save them from hunters. However, any of those bears would have lived a much better life free in the wilderness, even if that life would have ended because of a hunter's bullet. A short life of freedom and joy is always better than a long life of constant suffering.

Bear and seal are not on everyone's menu, specially because their hunting is really controlled and mostly eaten within the hunting posse that shot them. The meat that is sold is really expensive, but if your a born Finn, you'll definitely have eaten reindeer since kindergarden > elementary school.

I'm from Florence, Italy and we have some bizarre masterpieces he would love, but Andrew never came to Florence with the show. Here we used to let the steak rot for about a week befor cooking itt. Still nowadays i love to do it at home. If you also love intestins Florence is the place for you!

It's because of Russian (and English) belongs to the indo-europian language family and Finnish in the fenno-ugric family. Though the slavic and germanic languages are quite far apart from each other, they are much closer to each other than entire different families of languages.

Jap, one of the best, ok, the best meat product is animals tongue. Pigs tongue, or cows tongue. It tastes wonderful. Just boil with salt and pepper and one more herb and cut pieces and enjoy. The other tastiest part is chickenst stomach, again, just boil with seasoning and ready to enjoy:)

welcome. be aware tho, we have very low sunlight during the winters. sun is up like 5-8 hours per day, and thats it. most foreigners have very hard time with that. also, try our kind of sauna out. you're going to anyway, as its rather holy to us, heh :P if theres a community of finns, theres a sauna. no exceptions.

It's bizarre foods. We eat them locally. Like reindeer in Rovaniemi was a delicacy, but in Ivalo it is very common.

Perunaa syödään kaikkialla, mutta kalahan on ihan Suomen mahtiykkösruoka (vaikka itse en tykkää), kun löytyy niin paljon tuota vettä kaikkialta.. Saisivat kyllä just jotain mämmiä vaikka tyrkyttää, olisi sairaan hauskaa.. Enkä oo itekkään kuullu, että hyljettä syötäs.. :p
