Isn't it ironic that they actually call their government "democratic"?
@johncronin95404 жыл бұрын
Pacha Kundu I rather agree with Winston Churchill, who said, “Democracy is the worst form of government... except for all the others that have been tried.” There ARE many flaws in both direct democracy (which still exists in some local governments - Town Meeting, and ballot referenda), and representative democracy. Human beings are flawed. However, the flaws in other forms of government are far worse, as history proves abundantly. What one must ensure in establishing a democratic form of government is a Bill of Rights, which protects racial, ethnic, religious, sexual orientation minorities, to prevent what is known as the “tyranny of the majority”. It also helps if there is some form of separation of powers, as this can help prevent any one person (usually a head of government) from becoming too powerful. But human nature being what it is, any human form of government will have flaws. A well educated and informed citizenry helps to prevent those flaws from being too severe. Back before the fall of the Soviet Union, many Communist Bloc nations in Eastern Europe had “People’s” and “Democratic” in their name, while, like North Korea, having to cage their people in, to prevent a tsunami of emigration.
@bordeaux._55954 жыл бұрын
Actually, both Democrats and Republicans are bad things I wanna abolish those two parties
@johncronin95404 жыл бұрын
Itz Gacha Twinkle I am afraid that’s not about to happen, but the problem right now is being caused more by one party than the other. Even the Founders tried to create a political system which was nonpartisan. That didn’t even last through Washington’s Presidency, with the formation of the Federalist Party, and the Democratic-Republican Party. The Federalists didn’t last, and eventually was replaced by the American Whig Party. The Democratic-Republican Party evolved to become the Democratic Party. Both of those parties were split by the issue of slavery, which ultimately destroyed the Whig Party. What was left of it eventually became the modern Republican Party. The Democratic Party also split in 1860, fielding a Northern candidate (Stephen Douglas) and a Southern candidate (John Breckinridge). You know who won that election that year - Abraham Lincoln. But he was VERY different from what the Republican Party has become under Donald Trump, which has once again split the Republican Party, with many Republicans openly rejecting him, for reasons that should be obvious, by this point. There are deeper systemic issues that need to be addressed, for which both parties share responsibility. But the current president has violated the Constitution in so many ways, and threatens to do much more damage. He poses an immediate threat to our political system, and even many conservative Republicans admit this. Our Election Day is approaching, with less than eight weeks. We have an urgent decision to make right now.
@bordeaux._55954 жыл бұрын
I’m voting for no one
@johncronin95404 жыл бұрын
Itz Gacha Twinkle Well, if you don’t vote, then you rather forfeit the right to complain. I am not a member of either party, and it’s rare that my first choice for president makes it to the November ballot. And as I said, we need a lot of reform in our system, with everything from campaign finance reform, eliminating voter suppression, eliminating gerrymandering, and getting rid of the Electoral College System. Not to mention the constant campaigning caused by our system, with general elections every two years. But exercising your right to vote (even if that means showing up and abstaining from the presidential race) is the most powerful thing we can do as a citizen. Many states have ballot questions where we the people can directly vote on legislation (at the state level). Far too many Americans don’t register and vote, which helps disastrous candidates get into office, where they do a lot of damage. How do you think North Koreans would feel about the opportunity to have a genuinely free election, and vote out the Kim family? And do you have any idea how many Americans have worked hard, some being persecuted, many actually killed, just to exercise the right to vote? By not voting, not exercising the right that so many have struggled to ensure that you have, you are being, however unintentionally, disrespectful of their sacrifice. Democracy dies when citizens opt out of the system, and we get bad government as a result.

I'm sure your intentions were good but I just gotta point out that everything is relative, ya know? In many wayEmotional pain is similar to physical pain... Whenever you go to a doctor, someone may ask you to rate your pain on a scale from 0 to 10 with zero being no pain at all and 0 being the worst pain you've ever felt. Its asked that way bc everyone's pain tolerance is not the same; what may be overwhelmingly painful to me, might not even be noticeable to you... Being aware that another person has it 'worse' or that your situation could always GET worse, doesnt change the fact that you re going through something. Nor does it always help to pug hour emotional pain into perspective. Yes, sometimes it will help to realize that it may not be as bad as if feels... But it can actually be harmful to suggest to a depressed person that he or she should just "cheer up" or compare their circumstances to someone who 'has it worse'. It can cause the already depressed person to ask themselves why he or she is acting so selfishly... why cant he or she suck it up or shake it off? Of course that can intensify the depression. And I'm not trying to be 'that guy' (that girl 😁😆)! I jus felt like it was important for me to point out for those who have never considered this POV. 🤷♀️ So, thanks for reading this crazy long comment! LOL

Has anyone else noticed that the weird tall and springy haircut that was worn by Kim Jong-Il when he was still alive, and is currently worn by Kim Jung-Un isn’t on that “approved haircut” list? I guess they really want to be different.... I’ve heard that the reason Kim Jong-Il started styling his hair like that was because he was so short and wanted to appear taller lol lol he also wore lifts in his shoes. He was like 5’2” and clearly had a pronounced Napoleon complex

The weirdest country in the world, it would be interesting to visit it and see how people live there, what they believe, what they like, what they dislike, etc. I just hope I wont end up in some sort of prison while visiting it :D

Going to north korea just to see how ppl there live really just means your feeding into the inhumane system of the dictator. Anything you buy there, the money directly contributes into funding more concentration camps for innocent ppl. If you wanna know about how they live, google it.

Might be on to something with the perfect liquor! Ginseng is anti-diuretic so it's possible it counters the diuretic affects of alcohol which is what causes dehydration and electrolyte imbalances which in turn cause hangovers. Inflammation can also contribute and Ginseng is anti-inflammatory too. I wonder if it is made of ginseng or if it's actually 40% alcohol with ginseng added to make ginseng alcohol extract which is high in ginsenoside? Dunno what the sugar to rice glutton helps with... maybe sugar is hard to come by and it's an excuse for using it too?
