Ivy and brambles in the UK really are something else. You'll see enormous banks growing in any abandoned/neglected land - the sides of roadways and railways are absolutely rampant with them. Though there are perks to brambles at least - wild blackberries are my favourite fruit! I can't buy the ones you see in the shops anymore, they're just so inferior in taste. I go blackberrying each year for the ones growing near my house instead. Though I always stick to the banks of them along footpaths/public walking routes. I wouldn't want to eat the ones growing amonst all the car fumes!

@Angharadz22 ай бұрын
One cannot responsibly shred brambles or ivy, sadly, (or, indeed things like ground elder roots) as every little piece has the ability to root and start a new plant - can you imagine the nightmare - those are the bane of English gardeners lives; you pretty much have to burn them to be sure they are gone The birds love ivy, as nesting spots and as berries for food, but that just spreads it even further, and a lot of people have allergies to it, and the pollen too Birds, butterflies, bees, even foxes, they all love th brambles for cover, for food and protection from things that dont like strong thorns! Relax for a season, and the garden is quickly overtaken by them again
