I saw them on this tour in Nashville. This album absolutely changed my life. I would get home from high school and blare this and practice these vocals for about an hour until my parents got off work and came home :) Has had a major impact on the way I sing with the music I am making now (without trying to outright imitate Maynard of course). I was in jr high.. Maybe 6th or 7th grade, my uncle had to take me to school, APC and Tool were on regular rotation in his honda accord, I didn't know that I was about to discover one of my favorite bands of all time, APC. I was a kid and rock to me at the time as I was just cutting my teeth in the genre was Creed and Linkin Park.. Needless to say my musical tastes evolved that day, APC then Tool and eventually Puscifer have all helped shape me as a man. Thank you uncle lol.

I had the privilege of seeing this lineup open for NIN on the Fragility tour in '99, and as stellar as NIN is live, APC's performance was arguably stronger on that tour, which is saying a lot. This lineup has such incredible energy, and Maynard's vocals were in absolute top form during this stretch. Unlike so many vocalists who stay in a safe range, or rely on backup tracks/effects, he sings at the absolute limits of his ability. Being there in person to hear him nail a high note or a scream with piercing clarity, completely filling the venue, there was no doubt that he was the most powerful singer on the planet at that moment. That he could sustain that level of intensity for as long as he did is equally astounding. Just try screaming like him for 2 seconds (if you can even come anywhere near), and then imagine doing that in front of thousands of people night after night for decades, and you can appreciate just how badass a mofo he is. I am so lucky to have seen him perform in Tool in the 90's and APC in the early '00s. Thanks for sharing this video!
