The fact that you don’t mention Styx: Master of Shadows or Styx: Shards of Darkness makes me think you haven’t played those games and all the stuff you do mention makes me think you’d like them, like, a lot. Basically they’re as close to new thief games as we’re ever likely to get, but with an added layer of verticality that really complicates the level design (in a good way).

some people say stealth is boring cause it's usually a lot of waiting and it's very slow at times, but that's personally what i love about it. as someone with ADHD, i like that stealth games basically FORCE ME to balance aggressive with patience. you need to make a move at the correct time, but once you do initiate a move you have to commit and be fast that said, i love Dishonored with all my heart and the entire point of that game is to bypass the waiting in stealth. the enemy won't go away? teleport past him, pause time, possess him to walk in front of all his friends and the throw a grenade at the entire group

I think in terms of stealth game vs. stealth section I think a really obvious and easy way to add good optional stealth to games is to have the base mechanics available for stealth, and then give the player the option to either like, brute force through a smaller barracks to set up and be more powerful for confronting villain HQ or spend the resources they already have on stealth gadgets instead of weapons so they can skip straight to the main event and sneak past all the danger

Thief The Dark Project was my first experience with stealth gaming and it is still my at the top of my list of favorite games ever. In fact, after playing a demo I soon went and bought it. You didn't mention 1998 game Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines, which laid the foundation of it's own genre of Commandos-like RTS stealth games (Commandos and Desperados series, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun game). It had 2 level vision cones, one for standing position and one for crouching position. It had decoys. It had hiding the bodies mechanic. It had elememts of social stealth with the spy character. On the missions with snow or sand enemies could notice your tracks and follow them.

One of my favorite stealth games of all time will always be MGSV. While story wise it was one of the worst, it's gameplay is just straight up incredible. The amount of tools at your disposal is just mindblowing. Their reactions and behaviour so realistic, the way they cordinate, regroup ect. Not to mention their late game counters and own progression. It feels like they are trying to one up you. It also succeeds in doing something Dishonored fails, convincing me to take the non-lethal approach. Lets be real, the most fun gadgets/powers in stealth games are the lethal ones. So it saddened me that the ending in dishonored is depending on your play style. It feels like a punishment and i don't like that. MGSV however, rewarded you for being a good boy, instead of punishing for being a bad boy. The reason why you don't kill everything in sight in MGSV is because of the motherbase system. You need to "recruit" enemy soldiers in order to progress your motherbase. Which meant you yourself had an actual interest in utilizing a non-lethal takedown method, because if you don't then how are you gonna ged that new cool gadget. While there was also a honor sytem it was not as damning as in Dishonored and was even in late game pretty changable.
@bizlychannelYT
@bizlychannelYT Жыл бұрын
While I understand where you’re coming from, the whole idea behind the dishonored morality system is the sacrifice of power in service of the greater good. It fully intends for you to play the game lethal because that is a common tendency of people. Where gameplay is concerned, the high chaos runs are far more enjoyable and that seems to me on purpose. It’s their way of saying “doing wrong is always more fun and easy. Doing the right thing is often much harder and less fun but ultimately leads to a more satisfying end”. MGSV goes hard btw lmao
@RobertEdwinHouse9

So mgs5 just punishes you for killing very smart Apart from the ending dishonored doesn't punish you in any way gameplay wise unlike mgs5 Mgs5 is just too much
@aghmedddd8837
@aghmedddd8837 Жыл бұрын
@@RobertEdwinHouse9ehh not really MGSV doesn't really punish you for killing people outside of getting lower heroism (the honor system of mgsv) however you can avoid it by just headshoting people and the only real thing that low heroism does is giving you demon snake which just makes snake's horn big and makes him covered in blood 24/7 but it isn't really that big of a deal since demon snake really gives you nothing outside of just soldier reactions and that's it

For the most part, I completely agree. Stealth can be so special, or it could be needlessly OP, or it could be just garbage in implementation. It's ultimately all about how it is done. I do want to throw in one more variable that I think can make a more conducive and dynamic experience: Enemy Intelligence. I love in a game when the different NPC builds make an actual difference when stealthing. Dumb Dumb enemies missing what an Brainiac would catch can make such an intriguing game play dynamic. The rock throw may distract the orc, but the elf may notice where it came from instead. Just something I've noticed, but I think it is cool (in theory).

I love playing stealthy in games that aren’t supposed to be stealthed, like in Battlefield 1 there are multiple missions you *could* just kill everything but stealth is just so rewarding because the system isn’t advanced, it’s a simple icon above an enemies head for whether they see you, with no suppressed weapons One of my favorites is trying to reach the end of the trench without being seen in the Friends in High Places campaign for BF1, since you literally have a guy around your shoulders you have to set down to shoot people

The fact that you don't mention Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is downright criminal tbh Legitimately THE ultimate stealth game, it does everything to perfection and should be held as the base standard to improve from when it comes to a stealth experience Based on what you seem to like, if you haven't played it, I highly recommend it (on PC you can even get a bunch of free mods to get like widescreen support and such, the game looks insane for the time it came out, holds up really well for the most part)

Fifa is the best stealth game. It's a game where your task is to find a real person to sit next to you and while he's trying to beat you, you have to stealthy sabotage him with various techniques such as distracting him with the pizza delivery guy or taking his beer away from him or hitting him from the opposite side when there's a crowd of people in room, so he must ask who did it, etc and not get caught.

I played Outlast a month ago. And didn't think I would like a game with no combat. Turned out to be one of my favorite horror games ever. Even played the DLC and I've only gotten DLC once which was for RE8. So you know I was hooked. Plus it was short enough I wasn't burned out. But what it gave me having to run from everything was the sense of stealth I haven't had in years. Since Batman and Splinter Cell. Metro Last Light is also giving me that. It's a great stealth action title. I miss stealth games so much! I play games on hard in order to get as much of using every tool at your disposal gameplay as I can. I remember Deus Ex mode in Human Revolution was so fun and hard mode in Dead Space barely beating the game. Cause I didn't think I had enough supplies and ammo to move to next few sections. In Last Light, I just use the gas mask for a second to catch breath and explore gasping for air. Only using the mask in fights cause I tend to forget and suffocate to death by accident. It's a great sense of strategy. I'm not a replay guy so having multiple ways to kill doesn't do as much for me. But I do like some options. Didn't get into Dishonored because I didn't dig the vibe or story or whatever it was.. Maybe was mind set. I beat it but was like meh. I heard Prey is similar with multiple tactics to choose from. I played the og Prey but never played the new one cause I'm still triggered Bethesda didn't make the Prey game that was rumored like Fallout. I was so excited for that. Plus it didn't get much love till later on like Days Gone

I love stealth games because they're typically more story involved and create like a puzzle like hitman and little nightmares they aren't exactly categorized as stealth games and the stealth aspects are more over ridden by other aspects but they both have a puzzle vibe because of the stealth mechanics
