Our country is running out of time and cannot afford any more ANC rule, especially not another five years !!! We only get ONE chance every five years. We just don't have the luxury of voting for small parties anymore right now. If we continue to split the opposition vote across small parties, the ANC /EFF could easily take wards they would not otherwise have won, and will maintain their stranglehold over our country for a long time to come. It is very easy to speak when you come from wealth of this nature. I am a South African...My question to people like Rob is what was his contribution to this country post 1994(considering he left in 1990 when the country was bankrupt) in bridging inequality?, I don't think he can identify the problems of the common South African. Globally show me one govt that has a moral compass? . I think you take the good and the bad in any emerging market country or wherever you live! . No doubt Rob Hersov is skilled and outspoken, I just think he might be a little disconnected with the common man and no Madiba would not have voted for the DA. In such a situation its every man/women for themself, there family, there town, there city and their right to bear arms and defend themself and others is justified within the protectorat vacuum. The 2nd Amendment qualification towards the right to bear arms. Although the state has a duty towards protecting citizens, it cannot guarantee such protection. This is causing a lot of friction to a point where l fully agree that we should leave and we can always come back. It's nice to have the means to be a global citizen, I'm sure. Who sold Cyril the ageing jewel JCI and managed to get it funded by middle class Afrikaners (Sanlam)? A lot of what Hersov says makes sense, and it is hard to sometimes hear him say it. But he goes on and on about what a waste of time Political Science is, which shows that his mind is not as wide as he thinks it is. Entrepreneurs are not the keepers of all knowledge. Many of them have raped the environment and exploited their workers. They evade taxes while exploiting subsidies and tax loopholes. They corrupt politicians and public servants, if only with lavish expensive meals, use of luxury apartments, junkets, and board seats. They get legislation amended in their favor via making big donations to corrupt political parties and government officials. I'm not saying Hersov has done any of that, only that the record of this kind of abuse by companies and business leaders is there for all to see. It happens in every country. If everyone was required to study at least the essentials of Political Science (by all means give it another name) at school--to understand the role and importance of government and its institutions, the checks and balances, the need for management and oversight of the economy--we might have more prospect of electing responsible public representatives. It's tragic to see how in so many countries, the US included, a large part of the electorate is easily duped by propaganda, emotion, lies and disinformation. These are people who, for the most part, have not the faintest idea of how government works, and what their own responsibilities are to hold accountable the people they elect. Political Science should be mandatory at a basic level of citizen responsibilities at high school, and we should invest in the institutions and the experts who study and refine political science as a field of philosophy and proper scientific comparison of the efficacy of the different systems of stable, effective government. It should be taken seriously, not mocked and dismissed as useless. At its highest academic level, Political Science has the role of studying the history and efficacy of the world's different systems of government, representation, and fundamental human rights. The idea is to identify and study the best and most enduring ways of managing societies that value freedom and equal opportunity, with a fair and reasonable distribution of prosperity via decent shared basic services for all. If this isn't achieved, then prepare for voters to elect extremists that lie and make false promises. We need business people, entrepreneurs, journalists. We also need talented, dedicated political scientists, economists, environmentalists, and many other -ists. Without research and knowledge, we can't have the best possible understanding of what might work best for our civilization. Hersov knows that. He refers to governance (or rather the lack of governance) all the time. I agree with him.

This echoes a common misconception amongst some South Africans, which is that because first nation people lived upon a continent before others that the wealth potential of the continent is inherently owed to them and and wealth generated at any time in the history of that continent is their wealth no matter who exploits the source. This is a fundamentally flawed ideology which can be explained in quit simple saying: "As he (they) sows, so shall he (they) reap." Often this is used in the negative to discribe consequences of negative acts; but here I use it in the positive sense. What is wealth? Wealth is one's possession of stored excess (profit) - tangible (I.e. gold or buildings) or intangible (stocks, bonds crash). In order to be wealthy, one must have done something or know something of value others with wealth want and are will to buy or swop. For example; SA had caste quantities of gold, however, much of it lay very deep below the surface. Knowledge of mining technology, techniques, engineering and capital were required to convert a hidden resource into a tradable commodity. This prerequisite of having knowledge and expertise extends to every avenue of wealth creations. Those that do not possess such knowledge, cannot claim what they never had the ability to accomplish. Here Natural Law comes into force: "to the victor the spoils". I know this sounds a bit brutal, but that's just the nature of things. If you cannot peel a banana, you cannot enjoy a banana. So absolutely no one can claim they wealthy purely due to the unknown potential around them. To generate wealth, you need the knowledge to know how to unlock potential. There is no free lunch.

@@thusspokezarathustra You don't generate wealth, you expose it. Pick up your bible, heathen. Reap what you sow is about consequences, it is not about wealth. Don't misrepresent it. Here is another saying: "Know them by their deeds". And i'm not impressed with your deeds so far. Snake.

For that reason I am proudly agnostic. I do not need religion to provide me a reason to live, or for religion to provide me a ethical or moral compass. I am also not so naive to think that the world goes round because a god decides it. The brutal reality, is knowledge is power; to power flows wealth; and those with wealth, attracts to it more wealth. That is Natural Law. The bible will not help you - in fact, the bible states: "give unto Caesar that which is Caesers". To the victor the spoils.

The majority firstly would not understand the pitch; and secondly you would still need to convince a rather unintelligent parliament back your policy. Pretty much a zero sum game. The reality few face in SA is arguing with a bunch or morons the benefits of Capitalism. I suggest that the World Bank open a permanent slush fund to back ANC futher failures. A pure Capitalist approach just does not cut it under these circumstances - so best to dream up some type of sugar coated pill into which small wins could occur. One of my suggestions is that to keep peace the international community will need to consider a way in which a basic income can be supported for struggling states such as SA. I've suggest backing basic income by collective holdings of gold at central banks. Take gold out of the market and have a central global body such as BIS, IMF and WB reflect gold at a higher value. Then use that collective gold asset as a means of securing social support. In theory if agreed by the most powerful states, gold could be infinitely increased in value to absorb debit. So it would be like sinking baseline social debit connected with providing basic income, free education, healthcare and basic shelter for those unable to work or in poverty. On the flipside sovereign gold securities could be sold to attract and secure large pools of savings such as pensions insurance funds and savings. So doing creating not only a safety net for those in poverty but also an alternative safe investment for wealth. Which will help keep markets honest as there will be alternatives to place capital. May even help smooth the cyclical nature of markets. Gold bonds would be constantly stable as the value never decreases. That's my theory would be interesting to see the feedback.

As much as there is truth in what he is saying, I am so perplexed by his view that it is easy to slove South Africa's problems. South Africa is a complex country that needs numerous elements to be juggled properly in order to gradually move to a positive direction. Thanks to the "morons"Government that is being referred to that as we speak poor South Africans can literally go to school for free, eat there and go to varsity without paying a cent. I passed with distinctions during apartheid times and couldn't register at varsity due to my poor background but if it had happened now , hundreds of thousands like me would have been graduates in professions that can contribute positively to the economy. Just like in businesses, its not easy to generate massive sustainable profits in a short space of time. If I can meet a person who would say it's easy to be rich then regard that as a scam. The difference between USA , Israel and South Africa is the attitude of those in privileged position in Souh Africa thinks that someone has to make this country a better country for them. The speaker , whom his family benefited tremendously for generations through the exploration of blacks in mines , proudly says his Kids are working somewhere and would only come back if things are okay. Israelis , USA live and invest in their countries regardless, if Mbalula ( he is not my favorite) is an Idiot , how about Trump who was even in the a higher position. It's a shame that we still have people who will call others idiots based on their English accent and not see much on Clowns such as Trump and not see anything wrong with what is going on in Isreal but give praise. I hope some pockets of excellence such as Trevor Noah , Theo Baloyi, Thuso Mbedi, Black coffee, etc products of this government couldn't see evil in what is being portrayed and inspire south Africans to excel in what they do. Like in Mandela Situation (27 years) , young people need to work very hard, know that nothing is easy and that because of "evil sentiments such as this" just like during apartheid when he was called a terrorists, it always take years for others to be convinced that we are not morons but just have "a different accent" and that if we do that, eventually we will attain our "freedom " , our desired state. If the Apartheid government had Billionaires supporting it , one wonders who Billionaires are for, if they can't support a government that is trying to uplift the majority of this country,( not in monitory terms but other means!) , also noting that this government like any has problematic people. The problem with the attitude of this speaker and those that will support him is colour , they will use some facts which I don't deny, but deep in them is their inability to accept Blacks in Authority like they will accept white, some people just can't see positivity in other races nor wrong in their own. That is why most even today wouldn't know or support quality products from other races but will not see wrong in the Trump, and Israel of this world. I am mobilizing south Africans to work hard, live honestly, be resilient against those that looks at us down, support people of different races in government and understand that they are not Angels ,as it is a case all over the world, for Even Nelson Mandela experienced this( they only praised/praising him after years of battles with them) ,for eventually we will get there. My view is not in support of pockets of criminals in government but a holistic view , taking into consideration the realistic approach of bettering this country. ALWAYS REMEMBER , NOTHING GOOD COMES EASY , HARDWORK , HONESTLY AND BEING GOOD WITH OTHERS ALWAYS PREVAILS

Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant. This is the truth and the ANC and their supporters have a chance to live in a beautiful country that can prosper if they listen to every single word this man says. But the biggest favour they can do for the benefit of the country is to get out of government

Great inspirational/depressing insights for us still living here. If Madiba was still alive today, he would leave and go live on the island by choice

I was tolerating him when he rubbished black empowerment and B.E.E. Black people have suffered a lot for them to not be somehow economically empowered. Yeah sure he has some great analysis skills and he sure does speak the truth..... but you can spot an apartheid spokesperson by hearing them glorify racist political parties like the DA and FF Plus 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

But with all that in place for years has Black people been empowered? We just need inclusive economy to allow everyone to participate in the economy and create more jobs for others

@@lizzymkhawana9459 A middle class is being established. This is essential for economic and social stability. That means poverty and billionaires like him need to be minimized. He doesn't like that. He likes poverty and billionaires.

Do continue to speak the truth even if that includes giving names and calling people a moron when they are Rob. I'm English Public School educated, I'm all for proper decorum & professionalism but it's clearly evident SA policies are moronic & those who promotes such are inherently so.. Thank u again for the Truth as u see it. All people deserve that
