I think part of the reason Bjork never really broke it mainstream is that you kind of need to be a musician of some sort (any instrument) to truly appreciate the complexity and nuances in her compositions. Bjork doesn't just compose new music, she invents new music, and every bit of it is awesome. I have been a fan for ~30 years and she never disappoints. She is the music equivalent to cutting edge theoretical mathematics of physics, if that makes any sense...

@bookowl17756 жыл бұрын
@ElloJello Yes, knowing how to play at least one instrument gives you depth in sound appreciation. But knowing how to play an instrument is not enough to be a good composer: you need to have the soul of an artist. :) Yes, in other arts is very similar. Understanding tools is useful, but it will not make you a great artist, just a great music understander. The soul of the artist is something hard to define, but I believe it is also the substance of artwork. So, if made with the soul, the art can be alive itself.

@theRiver_joan7 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure this is in 4/4 and follows plenty of musical "rules" dude.
@Jelly49727 жыл бұрын
Björk rarely writes in 4:4 that's what makes her almost unique amongst modern composers and hugely respected in the world of classical music. Read Nicola Dibben's (professor of music at Sheffield university )book 'Björk' This is not in 4:4, sounds to me like it's going from 3:4 to 5:4 which are her favored signatures. Listen who really cares? You love it or you don't. I looove it!
@theRiver_joan7 жыл бұрын
Jelly4972 I love it too, it just seems weird to associate some sort of superiority to odd time signatures or "breaking the rules" (which odd time signatures are not). Lots of experimental or interesting artist work in typical "pop formats" but just dress it up a lot. Lots of artist don't. Music is music man.
@Jelly49727 жыл бұрын
Joseph molina. Moon from Biophilia was in a 17:8 time name another artist that's even close to a groundbreaking gamble like that. You thought Notget was in 4:4 which it clearly isn't. Do you actually know anything about time in music? I'll agree there are other artists that break the normal rules with regards to time but none do it in quite the fashion Björk does. Most people when they listen to music don't think about the time the music is set in but it's hugely significant on whether music is liked or not. People without knowing it feel more comfortable with a 4:4 beat anything that breaks the norm is sometimes hard to process.
@R0DisG0D7 жыл бұрын
+Jelly4972 Biffy Clyro's "Different People" is in 15/8 (after the intro), "Spanish Radio" by them is in 5/4, both are pretty pop-ish tracks. On the other hand, "Tomorrow Never Knows", at the time a radically experimental track, is in 4/4. I'm a big fan of Progressive Rock, so odd time signatures are entirely up my alley (Dream Theater's "Dance Of Eternety has 108 time signature changes in under 7 minutes), but they are in no way superior to the usual time signatures.

Uno dei più sontuosi, articolati, emozionanti brani di Bjork. Partitura straordinaria, elettroarchitettura pura!

Once you fell out of love Our love couldn't carry you And I didn't even notice For our love kept me safe from death You doubted the light And the shelter it can give For in love we are immortal Eternal and safe from death If I regret us I'm denying my soul to grow Don't remove my pain It is my chance to heal We carry the same wound But have different cures Similar injuries But opposite remedies After our love ended Your arms don't carry me Without love I feel the abyss Understand your fear of death I will not forget This notget Will you not regret Having love let go? After our love ended Your spirit entered me Now we are the guardians We'll keep her safe from death Love will keep us safe from death Love will keep us safe from death Love will keep us safe from death Safe, safe from... Love will keep us safe from death Love will keep us safe from death Love will keep us safe from death Love will keep us safe from death

The cinematography in this is just stunning, but what else can you expect from Björk? Her visuals are always so creative and beautiful. I just listened to Vulnicura for the first time and I have to admit I have trouble getting into the second half of the album because it gets much more messy, but I really appreciate what she does and watching this video I can feel it's already growing on me!

First heard some of Post in 2022, I enjoyed it but wasn’t huge on it. Then about 6 months ago I rediscovered Bjork, listening to her discography chronologically and oh my God, I fell in love with her music. It is some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard. I feel awful that it took me this long to discover Bjork, but I am so grateful I did

There is no such thing as sin. It came up with Religions to control the minds of people. That people would feel bad because of the hard and stubborn rules of their humorless gods. Instead of sin, there is ignorance which changes with compassion and wisdom along with life experience. Which teaches us to act and treat others as ourselves. Peace with you my friend 🤙
