Human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) derived cardiomyocytes (CM) are increasingly used for heart disease modeling, drug discovery and safety testing. However, rapid assessment of electrophysiological phenotypes in a 96-well format remains challenging. Here we report our experiences using optical pacing and machine learning approaches to improve fidelity and throughput of measuring and analyzing extracellular field potential (EFP) measurements from hiPSC-CM monolayers with the CardioExcyte 96 (Nanion) system.
