Great video guys as usual I had one of these back in the day Bloody great vehicle ! Mine looked exactly the same as this one 3B 5speed with power steering and disc brake front end 42 mpg if you drove it sensible 35 mpg if you flogged the Pi$$ out of her !!! Wish I still had her !!!

Hi Guys ,to save you some pain . That engine block and cylinder head would be needing all new welch / core plugs due to rusting corrosion and age / neglect , also block water jacket flushed using flushing tool using water and compressed air , this will help remove rust particles and sediment that has settled and gasket and dirt dropped in from removal of cylinder head , water pump housing and impeller will have corrosion . water pump bearing most likely had it as mechanical seal . The cylinder head has small welch plugs diameter 12 mm or 14mm i cant remember excatly size on the exhaust manifold side . they are usually overlooked as they are deeply recessed they will for sure be corroded easy to replace prior refitment of head or you will be cusing down the track . There are also welch plugs in behind the oil cooler housing , the oil cooler o'rings will be hard i recommend replace along with the two gaskets .possible the oil cooler housing corroded , ive seen many pin hole causing engine overheat damage inspect for deep pitting . the bottom radiator hoses metal pipe typically rusted and unservicable , replace with stainless pipe / tube , can tig around ends with couple of passes to form a ridge similar to original . fabricate bracket and weld or clamp to pipe to secure to shroud again . heater tap will be corroded , also dont forget to check heater core and flush , usually due to age it may be leaking , replacements available from USA at great cost. aftermarket radiators still available as are hoses some heater hoses use universal elbow , trim to original hose length. i suspect camshaft lobes will be worn and pitted as will be the lifters . rocker arm faces usually worn require reface / recondition . all that should you want too .

Great video as usual any one that’s had anything to do with cars has had a broken extractor nightmare at one stage or another and it’s definitely best to walk away from that situation sometimes come back after calming down and try to cause as little butchering as possible

need to soak cork gaskets before you mate them, water or ATF..... If you dont they will leak... Old school

Nice work gents. I have repaired many a broken bolt/ thread etc and can categorically say with no fear of valid contradiction that Wurth Rostoff is the best shit in a can that you can use for freeing them up. Not that it would've mattered on that one though I don't think. Do yourself a favour and get some. And don't leave it till 5 mins before you're ready to use it. If you have the time, hit it 3 days in a row prior. cheers.
