Why won't this BJ42 stop running? Addressing EDIC issues...

This 1983 BJ42 has been sitting a bunch of years, and it's time to get it back on the road. Although we can get the 3B mechanical diesel running, it won't stop running using the key. Let's look at how the Toyota EDIC system works, and what wasn't working in this BJ42.

I have a 60 series with the 3b and before I put it into storage for the winter, the EDIC arm was constantly cycling. It turned out that a ground wire was disconnected. Once tightened it stop cycling. I’ve pulled it out of storage but now I have the opposite issue as you, where when I crank it over, the EDIC arm won’t move at all into overinjection or drive. Do you have any suggestions? I’ve been researching like crazy but can’t find much

I'm no EDIC expert, but it will probably be one of three things; the EDIC relay, the EDIC motor, or the wiring in between. I tested my motor first, and it cycled. I then tested the relay, and it was fine, so then I tested the continuity of the wires and found that one had no continuity. If it worked before, and not now, I'd start with checking the continuity of the wires, as one may have been chewed over the winter; there are only four wires going to the motor, so won't take long to check the continuity.
