I am a forester in Arkansas in the Southern US. I am interested in the type regeneration that is practiced in these harvested areas. Is it naturally regenerated or planted? If planted , what species is used in planting? Love your videos!

The bigger they are the harder they fall. Crash, Boom, Bang. Do you ever get to see any wild animals while you are there or does the load noise of the chain saws scare them away.

Haha actually had thought about an online course but I would need to film on my own time or have my own contract. Couldn’t do it at work. It’s been an idea for a while just not feasible in my current work environment

Saw that branch fall! Hard hat probably saved my bacon once, slipped on ice, went down backwards on my neck/head! Thought I broke my clavicle. Guy on the backhoe said my hat flew up in the air 30 feet! Good thing it was cold, had my hat liner buckled with chinstrap. Mighta broke my neck! Close call. Thanks for the videos, always put 'em on full screen. The Old Retired Laborer

noticed you're debarking on the sides now! definitely looks to be making a difference when you can do it. A lot of the time you're on such steep terrain you can't even get to the far side! Great video as per Bjarne

You said take the time to be safe. On a earlier video a limb harpooned your brand new 592. Another you were bucking a log standing on a log. Next thing you know you were like a human ping pong ball. Great videos Bjarne. Be safe always no matter what

Shit happens, man. You gotta get work done, and there’s always a risk-in Bjarne’s case, a big risk. He’s the only one out there problem solving in real time. And I can tell you personally (different construction trade but same sorta risk-reward trade-off), sometimes we take chances we probably shouldn’t to get the job done quickly and efficiently. Most of the time it’s calculated and we get away with it, but you’re only in so much control when you’re out in the bush falling big timber. Cheers.

I don't regret the life and trade that I did for many years, but I certainly do envy your skills and life you've chosen to share with us. To be out in the wild and using nothing but your own skill to produce lumber for the rest of the world to use to create homes and other things is truly a fulfilling dream for most men and even some women. Thank you for sharing with us.

These vids were probably early November. I’m actually gunna run out of videos at end of December. So there’ll probably be a week or so of no content until I get back from camp and can upload to KZbin. I missed more work then I planned recently

Even though you are wearing cleats on your shoes you don't have any problem walking along on the logs. To you its a cake walk. Without the cleats can you still walk on the logs without falling? You're good at because you have been doing it for so long. Nice job Bjarne 👍

Hey Bjarne, awesome video as usual. I’ve learned a lot from you, pushed my first tree in the backyard the other day, couple of ash trees, they were limb tied. It worked out perfectly. Are you guys responsible to keep a safe distance from each other? Some of those other trees crashing down sound really close to you.
@BjarneButler
@BjarneButler Жыл бұрын
Yes we’re responsible for keep a minimum 2 tree length distance apart. But we almost never work that close, no one likes having a tree top landing 20ft from you when your bucking at the top of your tree. The key is having a plan with your partner and only change it after he been notified and it works for him too. Unfortunately a lot of accidents are from poor communication
@brucestuart8180
@brucestuart8180 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Bjarne, absolutely agree, communication is usually the culprit for accidents. Keep up the great work, I love it.

Why do you cut an X in the top of some of the freshly cut stumps?
@BjarneButler
@BjarneButler 2 ай бұрын
It’s usually to mark a failed stump, a snag outside the line which means it was done for safety purposes, and I also use it on high stumps I want to hold wood from rolling
