This is an amazing series, I loved how you’ve kinda made a team out of everyone here with the videos. It feels like I watched them train and now I’m literally in the tournament arc with y’all and rooting for you so hard! When Mike got the armbar I audibly yelled fuck yeah 😆

Haha you ARE a damn artist in terms of BJJ, video-editing and dark humor, so you are good mate !

Totally agree with the scoring comments. Only getting two points for passing into side/mount from standing should give more than doing it from sitting in their guard. The point system tends to force people into pulling guard which is pretty BLEH.

you get points specifically for passing opponent's guard, which you typically don't do from standup, even if you land in side control (a.k.a. "pass the guard in the air" in Tyler's rant, which perhaps we should all agree should be interpreted as no more than a joke). Honestly it's a bit like suggesting that in basketball if you score a free throw it should count for 3 points because you managed not only to score but also you're so good that nobody even tried to stop you, and "evidently" 2 points is a minimum a free throw should be worth, because the ball passed through the hoop, and in every other situation when ball passes through the hoop you score at least 2.

Yeah, I like the idea of scoring positions more than actions. Not sure how to work that with takedowns though because landing a throw into someone's guard would be no points under that format. 🤷♂

I'm hooked to this series, and yeah that's bs that Mike only got 2 points for the takedown and not the extra 3 for holding side control.
@Zentriam2 жыл бұрын
No not at all actually.. if you read the rules you would know that. 3 points for passing no points for sode control. You can even be in bottom side roll the other person over end up in top side control and you get zero points...
@Zentriam2 жыл бұрын
@@morganfrazer158 yup and If you manage to land in knee on belly giess what you get 4 all together. Sp annoying when coaches argue when they dont even bother to read the rules

Mike has really good takedowns. Surprised in your older video you refer to him as old man jujitsu in tournament he does play old man jujitsu
@TylerSpangler2 жыл бұрын
I was on his @ss saying he can’t play old man BJJ at a tournament. Too short of rounds and these guys will score 2 then stall. I’m glad he broke out the bath salts

Mike did amazing especially against a brown belt. I agree with your rant about points. should be 2 for takedown and 3 for the guardpass. So basically, he should have won on points. You should also take a side job for drawing out tournament brackets. No more need for computer produced ones when your hand-drawn ones are superior. Question about Mike's takedown in the last one. Is he using a duck under single? (not sure if that's the name of it)

Seems like Matt is a sandbagger. Is Matt a purple belt? Ha Ha what’s your opinion?
@TylerSpangler2 жыл бұрын
He just got his blue belt about a month ago, so we can’t give him anything else for at least two years 😅 he’s a good blue belt, but he needs to do better with some other blue belts at our gym.

I find scoring comments weird and too close to "but in a real fight it would actually..." Come on, it's just a rule set which is the same for everybody which is what counts. Changes would definitely open other questions (what if it's take down to side control and then immediate sweep? According to your logic surely the guy who's on top is "better off", so give him 6 points for that?) and I can't see how it would make this hobby substantially more fun than it is now. In any case give Mike his purple belt already!
