@AFew NoMore LOL. It does look pretty cool imo. But my best guess would be that the number of people that have regular jobs and don't want mangled ears is pretty high compared to semi or professional grapplers. Like I say here, if you want cauliflower ear, then completely disregard this vid! Oss.

What’s the longest duration it could take for the ear to puff up after the direct hits to it? I took some huge hits to my ear one practice and it’s super red and bruised and it bled a couples times and it really hurts to like touch it put pressure on and after about a week I notice only a very slight change in size. Does it take a long time to puff up or does it just take lots of hits

I have a question if I have gotten my ears drained already but it’s coming back a little bit do I have to get it drained again or can I just put magnets in without getting it drained
@TheBJJPhysio3 жыл бұрын
That depends. Did you apply compression the first time you drained the ear? If not, then that's the first step I would recommend. If you did apply pressure and the ear still refilled, then I'd ask whether or not you held the compression on long enough. My general recommendation is 1 week after draining. If the ear puffs up but no so much as to require being drained, then compression for a few days is usually enough to keep it under control. Hope that helps. Be sure to check out our BJJ player specific KZbin channel, The BJJ Physio. Also our new website, bjj-physio.com is launching soon where you can get answers to all kinds of questions about staying on the mat through pain and injuries. This thread is giving me a great idea for a "questions box" for subscribers. Thanks!! Oss

@@TheBJJPhysioI know I’m late but I have some questions, I did put compression and it still came back. Although it is smaller than before. What should I do now? How many times should I redo this if it keeps coming back? How long to put compression for? How long to take a break from training?

I have broken cartilage in my ear but it’s not filled with blood yet any advice on treating that,I have a ear guard coming in soon but is there anything else I could do to prevent it or is it to late either way I don’t care tbh but id rather not have it
@TheBJJPhysio3 жыл бұрын
How did you do that? Typically, if you injure, tear, or otherwise damage that cartilage, you'll disrupt the blood flow in that region and a cauliflower ear will appear. If for some reason you've damaged the cartilage and it's not yet begun filling with blood, compression to the surrounding tissue/inner ear skin is needed to prevent the ear from becoming engorged. The device that I find the most useful is the CauliCure Kit as shown in this video.

i drained my ear and the cali grew back a little what do i do
@TheBJJPhysio3 жыл бұрын
Hey Scott. That will happen. The most important thing to do once you've drained the ear is to provide compression. You need to allow for that skin to mesh back up to the underlying cartilage. I highly recommend the CauliCure kit as shown in this video for that purpose. It's easy to use, easy to clean, and does the job perfectly. If you don't compress that area, it's likely to refill, at least partly if not all the way. Hope that's helpful. Oss.

Is the cauliflower ear painful?
@elmaury2335 Жыл бұрын
@rosecandle when sleeping or training yes, especially if you go do muay thai with it. Draining it with a 23 gauge isn't bad at all, little but of pain but you're a martial artist you'll be fine.

@@elmaury2335 thanks so much. I wanted to know for my disabled brother who doesn’t talk and he had this but I was not able to find anywhere how painful it could and would be 😌
@elmaury2335 Жыл бұрын
If you haven't drained it then it's probably too late (he's a badass) but when it's fresh you can use a diabetic needle and it's really painless but the cauliflower ear itself feels kind of like when you sleep on your ear wrong. Also you can get different size syringes with different size needles and they're pretty cheap (like 8 bucks for a 25 pack) and the magnets i used were a little uncomfortable so i put some gauze inbetween them and my ear.

Ugh. Not easily in my experience. I've seen some nasty horror shows of people trying to use binder clips, clothespins... it's a mess. I'd just get the kit.
