Remember watching this during the celebrations for the new millennium around the world on Dec 31st 1999. It began in the Polinesia, then Australia, Asia, Europe and the Americas. From Iceland they broadcast this song which was a beautiful performance from Bjork. Many family memories came back from that day, thanks for uploading the video.

Was in the back of a club in Hamburg long ago and helped this group unload their equipment. A cute girl thanked me with a kiss on the cheek. The band was the Sugarcubes and this was that girl. I was a dishwasher in the restaurant next door ❤️ as a teen

To me, this version of The Anchor Song is the absolute best. I love how both the choir and the singer sound similar, yet at the same time contrast so much: one with many indistinguishable voices and flowing, the other a single voice and sung very clearly. To me, the choir almost sounds like an ocean, with faster and slower, higher and lower pitched motifs, that swell and fade like waves gently washing ashore. I love the call and response between the singer and the choir, and which blend together, almost as if the singer is now part of the ocean, too. From a visual perspective, I like how the Björk moves forwards and backwards, again almost like an ocean. It all matches the motif of the lyrics really well. The all vocal rendition, the soundscape of the church and how both the choir and Björk are all dressed in white adds another almost angelic quality to this version. The thing that gets me, every time I've listened to this version, is the part from around the 1:40 mark. The harmony followed by the single, lone voice, it's just pure perfection. I wonder how Björk herself felt when singing this: the expression in the eyes around 2:00 reaches straight into my soul and brings tears to my eyes. I don't think I've ever listened to a song that brings me such joyeous melancholy as this song does. Hér vil ég vera Hér á ég heima

Recuerdo haber visto esta transmisión justo alistandome para salir en la noche de año nuevo (la ultima del milenio) a decir verdad ese año nuevo era el primero q no pasaba con mis padres, recuerdo haber visto a Bjork en la tv y el sentarme en mi cama a verla, simplemente hermoso, de ahí en adelante muchas cosas cambiaron en mi vida pero éstas imágenes son una de las cosas q mas recuerdo de aquel día, gracias por subir el vídeo :)

Bjork is so very cute. I fell in love with her since Kukl. Am a punk from the 1980s, I didn't just fall into, as a side genre, I've always been different and myself. I've always made my own music.
