Takk! What about the two Tesla roadster you deserve for Tesla referral? Resell value of these would easily sorted this cash problem. Maybe the absence of two roadster not coming create the problem in the first place, because I find it natural to calulate these big values (250k$ each) into the total, but the roadsters are never comming are they? or comming way to late for Bjorn at least. Telsa or Elon should be deasent enough to cash out the resell value of these Telsa roadsters for Bjorn. Bjorn is maybe the single most important contributer that saved Tesla in 2014 in their tougest financial times for Tesla. Reccord sales in Norway in 2014 and also the years to come soly because of Millenium Falcon videos from Bjorn proving that the TMS is capable of being the main Family car in Cold winters in Norway. I support you Bjorn! Let us not forget that Bjorn lend out all the chademo adapters he got from referral program when there was only a few SuperCharger in Norway. He could have sold them instead, but he rather contributed selflessly for the early ev comminuty. We owe Bjorn a helping hand her! Greeting from Oslo Norway😊

@@bjornnyland maybe you can get the bank to give you a loan on the tesla roadster elegebility hence you would have to give them the rights to sell it off but it would give them something tangible that they can lend against. Even if they only lend 20% on each car with that kind of collateral but it still might help you. Maybe renting out the garage for some old car enthusiast who wants his cars at perfect tempreature this could give you a 3 year contract that you can lend against. If the renter has a good credit score the rental agreement is also something banks can lend against. I really hope you will make it through this difficulties good luck!

A million euro home based on a single income coming from a 300k sub yt channel is insane to me. Taking out 15% loans to add stuff like outdoor pool and heated garage is completely beyond my comprehension. I love your reviews and tests that provide the most grounded data on Evs one can find on the internet. So it pains me to see you are so out of touch with reality when it comes to finances. I agree with some comments here. Some things is better to keep private, financial problems, kids, where you live. So was better not to put this video on the internet. This is indeed bad budgeting and that for a guy that is good with numbers, that surprises me. It looks like you went on a spending spree, big house, swimming pool, expensive kitchen, two kids (because they costs also a lot of money) and that all at once. A swimming pool in Norway for those few weeks per year that it’s there hot enough? Really? that’s pure luxury, a waste of money if you ask me. Now comes the reality check. Cut costs and have discussion with the misses what you both can do about this situation. And if needed sell the house and live somewhere smaller, because the bigger the house the bigger the costs.

Sure, more money now can maybe help you in the short run but not in the long run. You have a house most people could just dream of, but honestly you need to realize that also. If most of your income today comes from youtube directly then im sure you can make more money from adlinks, sponsored videos, selling merch or whatever. So he could go and get Refinancing and get a Mortgage and bank would pay Loan, but for some reason he is not going to. 🤷 Mortgage could be paid in 40 years, 1 200 000 NOK. So it just 2500 NOK per month. Instead of Loan, those are taken maximum 10 years. 10 000 NOK per month. So Bjorn shold tell us, why Banks would not give him cheap Mortgage and he only could get a super unfavorable Loan. Maybe something in the past? First of all, you have been working so hard, and that's your income... the question is... why do you feel the need to justify in KZbin videos? I think the bad decision wasn't buying the house or a pool, the mistake you made was to share publicly. The maths is simple here, people on the Internet just want to criticize anyone who is looking rich or just happy. I honestly think that an excess of honesty and transparency when it comes to finances is never good. The only one who should be transparent is the Government. Apart from that, now that you are dealing with this new situation, people are gonna use it against you, which is sad. However, I just hope the algorithm helps you a little bit haha. I just hope everything goes well Bjorn, wishing you the best :)

Bjorn, I’ve been watching your channel for so many years and you’re one of the most talented people on the platform. I don’t know you personally but you seem really genuine and kind on camera. And I really hope you find a solution that is best for your family soon and this doesn’t hang over your head for too long. With that said, I think what’s happened is you’ve flown too close to the sun with this one. It seems like you’ve gone for the best of the best offering when it’s come to things like kitchen, garage, paint, etc. We have a saying in the UK “spend a penny (£0.01) to save a pound (£1)” But it seems like what you’ve done is spent a pound to save a penny. Yes long term it will pay off, but given the current financial climate since 2019 or so, I’m not sure that’s been wise. Yes long term I’m sure having a fancy kitchen will be better than an IKEA one, but it seems that short term you can’t afford it. I hope you can find some money through sponsors and you don’t dig yourself bigger hole. I think you have flown too close to the sun, buying a massive house for just 2 kids when something half the size would have been amazing for them, and something like a 2 bedroom apartment would have been acceptable. Personally I think (and this is not financial advice or anything) but I would sell the house and cut my losses, then buy another already built house that is half the size and live there for 3 or 4 years while you get your finances back on track. And then maybe you’ll be able to buy your dream house back, or be in a better position to build another one using the experience you’ve learnt from this house to make sure you don’t make the same mistakes again. Some of the prices I’ve seen you say for what you’ve spent just make no sense to me, obviously i understand that you and your wife probably don’t have the time to paint your house yourself, but £8,500 seems like a lot to me. Anyway, to put what I’ve said into more relatable terms: Your current house is a Tesla model S plaid You should get yourself a house that’s more like a standard range model 3 But people are doing perfectly fine raising children in houses that are more like a Volkswagen Passat

Painting is very expensive in Norway. I wanted to get the entire interior painted on my 130+ sqm house and the estimates were somewhere in the range of 70k to 90k NOK, so i started doing it myself, one wall per weekend :) and now I have covered almost all of the interior. Paid less than 5000 NOK for the paint and the equipment. 8500 pounds for the entire exterior on this humungous house is perfectly reasonable price in Norway (considering the scaffolding costs as well)

We live on a similar size plot in Queensland, Australia. Roughly 50% of the homes in my neighborhood have a pool but even though our summers are long and hot and our winters are really mild they are rarely used. People assume their kids will be using the pool all the time; they do at first but soon stop and lose interest in it. That’s kids for you. They actually are something of a curse because the costs associated with them aren’t limited to heating. Pool maintenance is an ongoing chore and cost. When we moved here from the UK 10 years ago we thought long and hard about buying a house with a pool or without but, as luck would have it, the house we liked didn’t have one. Knowing what I know now I would have rued the day we bought a house with a pool if we had made that mistake.

Sadly, total failure may be that reality check you get. Of course, you can avoid the humiliation and failure by selling the house ASAP (even at a small loss) and accepting the mistakes have been made. Don't make more mistakes to try and correct all the original mistakes. The saying "you can't borrow your way out of debt" seems to apply here. Wifey needs to get out and work. Sorry. Life is hard. Pay for daycare. 99% of us have to live this way. Begging on KZbin is one of the worst looks you could possibly have right now. If all you need is a little time like you claim, wifey won't have to work long to get your finances back in check. The insistence on maintaining an extravagant lifestyle, despite the obvious strain it puts on others, suggests a level of megalomania that's troubling. Sorry to hear... The biggest mistake people now a days when building a house is to add extra stuff to the standard models (special kitchen, special color, bathroom changes)... This will explode the cost. Just build the standard model and than over time you can hire craftsman that can add the extras... Another thing i suggested to a friend... If you take a loan than with a fixed rate - yes here in Germany the rate wil be a bit higher 7-9% instead of 5-7%, but at least you can calculate all your financial burden... At the moment there is a huge risk that intrest rates could spiral out of control because the inflation is still not in control... Risky business to take loans right now. And the third thing is really important - when building a house, always calculate about 20% of rising cost... Often there come a lot extra cost on top (materials get more expensive, work needs longer, stuff was not correctly calculated and many more thing) that will add up... So if you get an offer to build a house for 1 Million, always be prepaired to pay 1.2 million or more

Hi Bjorn, I can relate in a way; I had a quite nice house but we were complaining about being at 900 meters altitude, snow, small kids around. So, in 2020, we decided to sell and move down close to the lake. We saw that cool project of a house with quite big land and the swimming pool. Mortgage rates were so low at that time that we decided to go on. Unfortunately we’ve been scammed by some criminals that took our money and went bankrupt, a legal action is in place but I’m not expecting anything out of it. We’ve been forced to rent a flat while our new house was having issues during the building, we had to redo everything and add 420k to the mortgage . It has been emotionally and financially really hard but we finally moved to our new house last April. Same as you, I’m not sure if it will be financially ok. Thanks God, despite having a 27k KZbin channel, I could never rely on it to pay my bills; I have a 8 to 5 job, wife also and KZbin is some little income. We will see how things evolve and, if needed, try to sell the house with a margin as land value went quite up since we bought it. There is always the sun after the storm, stay strong, see the glass always half full and smile to everyone!

You shouldn't let your family put you under too much pressure. Sell the house and make sure your children are raised well and lovingly. When you're back on your feet financially, you can think about a new house, which you should plan in a modular way so that the size and features of the house adapt to the bank balance. Basically, in my opinion, you've got the order wrong. First comes the big bank account and then comes the big house. I hope you have a good financial advisor for all your future decisions and the balls to make tough and necessary decisions. Go for it.

Buying a house over your budget is often not going to work out and sometimes you gotta face realities. Buy something cheaper and buy something that you know you can afford in difficult times.

Bjørn as others have suggested (I live in Norway so I know the rules in regards to the loan etc). The only way I can see you keep ownership of the house is to rent out your current house, and rent a smaller house for yourself and your family. If your wife does not have a job, start there once you have moved into a smaller place. Either that, or she needs to step up and take care of the children at all times. My mom did that when we were little, while dad was away on business for weeks. There is no reason why she can't do that if she does not have a job. You can start selling merch, do sponsored videos etc. There are a bunch of ways to generate more income with your huge following.
@kosiranze
@kosiranze Ай бұрын
Wait, he doesn't have any merch? I guess I just assumed he had one. That seems like some seriously low hanging fruit. The ABC (always be charging) 👕 and some good plays he had an that would surely get some traffic. And a Shieeeet... one likely as well... And for an easy (like really easy start) maybe make some designs, put them on a print on demand store like society6, advertise them through your videos, and you get a cut on every sell.
@kosiranze

And while I am not willing to send money directly, I would gladly order a shirt or two with @bjornnyland content inspired designs. Heck, maybe even some stickers which I usually find pretty useless. Maybe, it could be your wife, who instead of looking for an employment, can commit some time to help with designing things you could sell as merchandise? (especially if she is at least a somewhat creative type)

When I saw that house for the first time, I thought "He certanly have a good business or big passive incomes so he can afford all this and also have enough time for youtubing with car tests". And then was pool, garage, kitchen and so on. That prices are huge! I always wanted big house for my family, but we decided to bought big appartment rather then house to have good infrastructure around in walkaway distance. But the point is before we bought that appartment, we worked hard to make anough money to buy it without any loans or credits! Only this way can guarantee you that you can afford some thing because you already know you have all necessary sum for that thing. Yes, you should spend some time of your life to make that money without directly usage of it. But this gives you positive delta - it is your money and you are their owner, so you can feel how hard you got it and what part of it you are ready to spend for your dream.

In some places it is possible, where real estate is rather cheap but you can earn a lot, sure. And usually such places/countries also have high mortgage interest rates which make it less appealing to take a loan. But in many places it would really take a long time to earn all that money. Like where I live my mortgage is actually lower than what I would pay if I rented the place, sure you also need to put down your own money to take out mortgage but prices of real estate have also risen. I took out my mortgage in 2017 and I am happy, because if I had not done that and just saved money, today I would be still renting some place and would not have enough money to buy an apartment as prices have gone up significantly. Thing is in the last 7 years real estate prices have probably gone up like 40%, while if I had invested all that money in some regular financial instruments, I do not see how it would have grown by 40%

@vb8253 Ай бұрын
@@lkrnpk Makes sense. Also you can firstly buy small apartment and after several years sell it and buy something bigger.

First, sell the frickin’ house, forget it and start all over again. Buy an existing house so you know what the costs are going to be. Second, tell wifey that she needs to take care of the kids full time. Period. Your focus is work, her focus are the kids. That may be old fashioned, but if she doesn’t work….. You can’t do both mate. And for the long term, tell her to learn the Norwegian language and to get a job so eventually you may be able to afford a more luxury house. I’ve been following you since the early days of your channel and I love you, but now you have to fix your shiiiiit. Asking for a loan to pay off another loan is not going to help you. I’ve seen people and companies go bankrupt on that so you need to make structural changes. That starts with accepting you made a (budgeting) mistake. Don’t try to defend your mistakes (‘we need this pool’) because that would be an insult to your viewers. They (or most of them 😅) are smarter than you might think.

Child care is really cheap in Norway. Full time child care is €263/month and will be reduced to €175/month in august. You get 30% discount for the 2. child and 100% discount for the 3. child and upwards. If wifey is not working she needs to. Literally any job will bring in way more money than staying home with the kids.
@marconrustNL
@marconrustNL Ай бұрын
@@norboost Well, maybe they want to be with the kids fulltime. That’s what we did, 22 years ago (and now both back to work again). But we didn’t have a mansion like that and I had some money in the bank after selling my company. But I would agree, kids don’t suffer from going to child care and if the money is in the need then both having a job may be a better option.
@eddiehaug
@eddiehaug Ай бұрын
@@marconrustNL- Just for context, exceptionally few people would be able to live like that in Norway with just one income. For this reason, the vast majority of women work and help support the family. Kids are well taken care of by child care at a low price, so everyone can work.

I can feel you. Having a child and being selfemployed is not easy! My business plummeted to around 50%, but it is now recovering slowly as my girl grows up. We wanted to have a house too, here in Switzerland (way too expensive), but my gut feelings said to me, do not try to do everything at the same time. Now we have postponed the house at least for 5-6 years and we will see what happens then, the money is in stocks, so we keep waiting. But that frees up time for my toddler. Nevertheless your situation seems quite bad now and I wish you and your family all the best, that you can keep the house and get back to a prosperous financial situation!

@@bjornnyland actually my toddler girl is only a few months older than Isabelle. So, we still have our struggles to keep the work life balance right. But as far as I can see, you are doing everything you can! That is what counts. Let the haters hate. In Germany there is a Car KZbinr that has the same followers like you. But he yells at his followers that comment. Even if the comments are in a good manner. He does not like critics at all, and he is above everything. In the end a lot of people think he is an arrogant asshole. Don’t let that happen to you. Keep calm and smiling :)
