Regarding 19:30 : I seem to remember seeing some other reviewer noting that the EX30 stops preheating the battery at some ridiculous high SoC% (like 15-20%, can't remember exactly), which was confirmed to him by Volvo with the argument that otherwise you "risk not reaching your destination"... With other words, the preheating is basically useless for any long-range driving, which is when you need it.

0:14 - "Supposed to be". What do you expect from Chinese automakers these days? They rate their cars by CTLC which is a big joke :) Even my 2019 Kona 64 kWh, based on the 2018 original model is only 30 minutes slower, but much more efficient that this crappy minimalistic piece of rubbish Volvo :( And my Kona has 6 years old tech and battery chemistry in it.
@MartinzW
@MartinzW 8 ай бұрын
@@RupOase Chinese automakers are literally leading the charge globally. Just because EX30 is not meeting your expectations, does not paint the picture for the rest of the Chinese automakers. And while the consumption of EX30 does not meet my expectations either, it's by no means rubbish, it is one of the best designs out there, especially compared to Kona that has not a hint of modern design language or functionality to speak of. (I still like Kona for what it is but interior is just meh)
@RupOase
@RupOase 8 ай бұрын
@@MartinzW they are leading in the battery manufacturing sector, true, but if you look at the pure Chinese car designs... they are on the extreme sides: they either look terrible, barely having any kind of kit on them, either stunning with so much useless kit on them that they seem to target the rich. They don't offer an intermediate, quality car, that could beat other, more accessible cars. And no, MG4 is anything but qualitative. And given the price tag of the EX30, I find it rubbish overall, as a package. Price-wise is almost on par with a Tesla Model Y, but practicability is non-existent. It's even worse than on a Kona. Remember that the EX30 is built on an EV-dedicated platform, while Kona is based on an ICE platform. This is what happens when designers are favoured over engineering. Minimalism that makes the car hard to use, and bad efficiency because of crappy aero model and typical inefficient Chinese motors. Not only my expectations are not met, but many others' as well. We want to switch over by 2030 on new energy cars, but I feel that a person wanting to switch over to them still has to be on the higher earning spectrum, and again, at that price tag, you'll be better off with other manufacturers that offer you more car for your buck. What I think EX30 does better? Material quality: yes, it's nice, interior is indeed above all the cars mentioned here, but then, you're not "rubbing" that fabric all day long, not even on a longer trip. Soundproofing: better than Kona, probably slightly better than on the Tesla. Seat comfort: I find my Kona better than both EX30 and Model Y, but I might be subjective here, taking into account the price tag. Navigation: using Google is a big plus. Safety systems: on par with Kona, but better than on the Tesla.

It’s a 422hp pocket rocket. I just took our 2 year old XC40 out for a Sunday drive today. 16C and saw 16.5kW/100, and an estimated range of 420km, but from a 75kW battery. Thats 408hp from 2 permanent magnet motors. If you drive at 120kph on the 1000km loop, range suffers.

I was looking for EX30 as an alternative for my 2020 Kona in small cars category. Sorry but Kona (releasd 2018!!) still kicks ass. Despite slower charging - much cheaper drive and probably same 1000km real life when you often stop for slightly longer to eat or rest.

3:06 I'm so sick of manufacturers obfuscating the charging speed in kW, it's not difficult to display it, alongside the time left to charge and the miles being added per hour. Charge speed in kW is the easiest way to see if something is going wrong with your charge, and if you need to move to a different stall.

The more I learn about electric cars the more disappointed I get. To me most affordable electric cars can be compared to smart phones before iPhone 4... I will have to wait for that iPhone 4 electric car - what is somehow affordable by today is more iPhone 3, Nokia E52 and so on... This way I'm currently forced to use a kind of Nokia 3210 car: With a 2018 Seat Ibiza 1.0 TSI we consumed 4.96l/100km on a 178km trip; A total of 8.82l for 16.84€. We "created" 118g CO2/km, so 21kg for the trip, that is 10,5kg per person and luggage. That is the same Deutsche Bahn calculated for the trip... So with more then three people we would have "created" less CO2 then going by train. With our style o driving a "charge" of E10 is good for 750km by the way. CO2 "creation" depends of how the electricity is produced of course; that makes the actual usage of an electric car cleaner or dirtier then going "classic"
