FWD is better for regen than RWD. Weight transfer improves traction on regening wheels. I'd say that the same principles apply as for fossils - RWDs suit for "aspiring" drivers and FWDs for people who don't care or want to think about driving. Behaviour is just more predictable and "worst case" failure requires generally less skill to manage with FWD (understeer vs. oversteer, not taking ESP into account).

I used to own a petrol Renault Scenic year ago. Mechanically it was OK and it was spacious but most things electric on the car failed, sometimes multiple times. An electric window would fail every 6 months and cost about £200 to be fixed at the dealers. The drainage from the windscreen would always block and redirect the water into an area where the electric fan lived making it sound like a boat propellor. The dashboard also failed. The idea of buying a purely electric Renault would give me the shivers.

I don't think so, the scenic has a NMC battery it should definitely be able to charge way faster. Other cars with such a huge NMC battery can easily charge at 200 kW. Vut I think it is on purpose bc slower charging is better for the battery and I think Renault wants to make the batteries last as long as possible. Especially as NMC batteries have a shorter life anyways with a lot less charging cycles until they reach 80% or 75% remaining capacity than a LFP battery
@Cosmycal2 ай бұрын
@flo_h_96 I wonder if that's necessary though, since Ariya charges faster with less peak speed, has a bigger buffer and even then, to cycle that NMC battery enough to get to 70% usable due to degradation you'll have to reach like 20 years of normal use of the car, at that point the rest of the car is as old as the battery, not a problem really.

Peak charging isn't everything, there are cars with less peak charging than this Scenic and gets more kWh into the battery in less time.

AC is always available. It doesn't hurt the charging speed.

@@Cosmycal that's why I took care in specifying 10-80% charging. Still, high peak charging can be useful in case of short charging stops.

@@EPicurux I have a scenic, and AC is available while charging with no effect on charging speed. Bjorn is not right if he says so (did not watch the video yet.. will do!)

I dont understand how a new 2024 ev can't at least match the efficiency of an older EV like the Model Y. Decent time but disappointing for the massive price tag they're asking

Yes, compared to all the other cars on Nyland's list, the Renault doesn't fare well. The question that still remains is how consumption will change in winter. Will it get even worse?

Renault are so far behind they need a telescope to even see Tesla.
@razvanlex2 ай бұрын
Not really, they sold more than 2,2 million cars in 2023. With a greater profit than Tesla. Tesla sales I think can only drop in the future. The model is old, there are many other options. The hype will slowly fade. But maybe I’m wrong.

Renault has absolutely nothing to envy from Tesla. Renault's financial figures are much better than Tesla's. And Renault makes very beautiful cars compared to Tesla, which has stuck with the same ugly and outdated design for 15 years.

@razvanlex Tesla makes the most margin per ev of any volume manufacturer. Renault FSD, Renault Bot aren't progressing all that well either. Did you watch the video and how old their tech looks, how slow the charging speed?

@@mikee6114 But you realise it's not all about the charging speed. Not all people use cars the same way.
