Thanks for the test Bjorn. I got my Born 2 weeks ago and finished my first 1000 km on it. Even though its not as thought out as your tests are; im averaging 18,7 kWh/100km with 92 km/h average speed on the factory summer tyres. I drive it daily to work for about 60km on the Austrian Autobahn with speeds up to 130 km/h at temperatures around 5-11°C over the last 2 weeks. I've yet to see minus temperatures but Im hoping the promised updates help improve on its efficiency in cold temperatures until next winter. The touch controls on the steering wheel where quite frustrating at the start but Im slowly getting used to it. Everything else is either ok or very good to use; but im mostly just sitting in the car driving from a to b. For around 25.000 Euro (due to a refund of my old 2.0 Diesel from 2014) this one has way more stuff than I ever gonna need. Heres to hoping it will hold up good for the next 7-10 years. Thanks for all your effort, greetings from Austria 🙂

Got a Cupra Born 58, not heatpump, from europcars. It did some kind of coldgate just recently. 3°C outside, 300km Autobahn with an average speed of 90km/h was not enough to heat up the battery (enough?). Started with 50kW 10% and it climbed to 80kW when it reached about 50% which was enough to reach my destiny. Never saw anything like +100kW on the 300kW-charger.

Depress ... correct according to translation from German, meaning "press down". Still unusual. But maybe just describing the state the software engineer was in.
@peterzerfass46092 жыл бұрын
Translations into english at major german companies are handled terribly. You'll always find people who think they 'know how to speak english' and will do it by themselves instead of giving the translation task to a native speaker (which is what professional translation agencies do). The number of horribly wrong translations I've seen in production software (which have lead to no end of raised eyebrows and loss of contracts at trade shows) is actually...depressing.
@paulsimpson89902 жыл бұрын
It’s not a German translation issue, that’s actually a word in the English language……depression means something lower down. A depression in the ground is a area that is lower. If you’re depressed you are lower. If you depress the brake pedal you push it down lower.

Could it be the case, that higher speeds and lower temperatures, increases so much the consumption, that it could actual be better/quicker to drive slower? Maybe driving 10 km/h slower, would still get the battery warm enough for proper charging. Actually, in actual driving time and average speed, which were the differences to the ID. 3?

Why the heck does this have such insane consumption? My kona since i got it october last year and i drive around 2500KM pr month at work with the company kona my avrg since then is 19.8 and i have a lead foot and i want 23 degrees in the cabin. (last 3 weeks the consumption is 17.9 and i do alot of 120km highway driving to boot) My colleague has the ID3 and he is a unlucky bastard his consumption is 23+ all the time since same date as i got my car.
@bjornnyland2 жыл бұрын
Did you drive at 120+ km/h?
@evboy42872 жыл бұрын
The reason is aggressive battery heating when the battery is colder than 8C (?). Easy to casually drive for 10 mins and loose 5 percent capacity. When it is warmer then 12 it's a non issue and consumption is as low or lower as with others. Supposedly there will be a software update, battery chemistry shouldn't be that different. Now this still doesn't explain the stark difference in the 1000km challenge?
@carlomorischi34352 жыл бұрын
Hey Bjorn, on the third leg you had a consumption of 300 wh/km why is that? It's VERY VERY high! What speed have you traveled at?
@pasi23052 жыл бұрын
