Okay, so. Fantastic story. I was super happy that the main character didn't do the deed, because that felt like it would be insanely cliche. And when they mentioned turning on the lamp I thought "huh, plot hole", but the that was worked into the story itself in a way that only leaves more mysteries. Brilliant job. And I greatly appreciate that you didn't completely disregard the GBC capabilities. It made it much easier to imagine this 'game', and my mind was able to conjure up the pixel art as you described. This might be the first good piece of video game pasta in years. If you actually had a piece of homebrew written to accompany this, it would honestly be an incredible follow-up.

I agree. I went into this just looking for a nice, cheesy distraction, not expecting much from a gaming creepypasta, but was pleasantly surprised by an actually good story. Some of the elements in the middle of the story are kinda cliche still, but since it's meant to be ambiguous whether the MC actually experienced all that or it was just the delusions of a freaked out little kid, it works fine. There's even a good, simple reason for the character to be revisiting the game and to tell the story, and if you assume indeed he was just having a nightmare at the time, the whole thing feels like it could be real. Been a while since I read or heard a creepypasta about games that feels realistic enough.

While I immensely enjoyed this story and the way that you told it, I do have to say that I had such a hard time hearing it. I am hard of hearing and actually can't hear lower tones and super high tones. Usually I have no problem being able to hear you tell a story, but this one...I don't know if it's because you made the rumble in your voice more pronounced or if its because you mixed other sounds and effects in with your voice, but it was a real struggle. However, regardless of my difficulties, I so enjoyed how this story brought back so much nostalgia! The Gameboy brings back my childhood days of playing on the console and later upgrading to the newer models. I also thought it very clever of you to place the story around a creepy video game- another nostalgia trope. It was well written and thank you so very much for sharing it with us here on this platform!

You know, this could be explained as some creeper sold the MC's parents a moded Gameboy color and hacked game that was giving him instructions that would allow for the creeper to kidnapped him

the build up was REALLY effective. i could feel the dread pulsing through me as i listened. i had a vague sense that the wish would be something like "kill your parents", but the way the genie walked the character slowly through every step had my stomach sinking deeper and deeper. the ending left me with a LOT of questions, which im sure was very intentional. it was so freaky, and at the end, with the music, i almost got the sense that the mc was 'spreading the curse' in some way, which idk if that part was on purpose but it definitely made it scarier
