All I can say is....(as I'm staring at my canvas and brushes in my hand spacing out thinking about what I was just listening to) wow!!! That was super cool Clanc! Your mind is a beautiful, twisted, amazing place! Where do you come up with such trippy story lines? One of these days I'll get brave and finish my story and send it to you you can tell me what you think. Funny it's actually involves a painting. And maybe a childhood memory.... It's nice to hear you again you've been missed !

Great job writing your own story, and a pretty lengthy one too. Edit: It was pretty good, I would say really good but I don’t listen to a lot of emotional creepy stories so I can’t judge on originality. It feels grounded, like you’ve written what you know, whether this is based on personal experiences or from your mind it’s well realized and I hope you continue your writing journey.

This guy has the right idea about work. I enjoy my free time. I work just enough to pay bills and live a halfway decent life. But, I have no ambition to have a bunch of shit I can't enjoy because I'm working all the time. It's a waste of life if you ask me. And it's galling that society tries to belittle and bully people into doing things they don't want to do or being someone they don't want to be. You have to ask yourself; who is really benefiting from the current structure of society? It's not the guy who has to work 70 hours. That's for sure.

I had to come back and listen to this story. It is very well written and narrated Bravo. It has been on my mind since listening to it the first time It kinda haunts me in a way. It makes me wonder about people with mental disorders. As a nurse I have dealt with patients schizophrenia, dementia, Alzheimer's and other types of disorders. I wonder why are we so certain that they aren't really hearing something that we can't. My son saw 3 'Baby Angels' in his room when he was 3 years old. He said they sang to him at night. He ask who they were and showed me a picture in my Bible of a cherub and said they looked like his year old little brother. I had lost 3 babies. One before Spenser and two after Linkon. I have always wondered if he saw them.

Suggestion: Next time you're supposed to have a limited page count, word count, etc. try actually hand-writing the story onto a journal or even a spiral notebook. I did like the story, but even with as microscopically some of my old students wrote, this is at least 4x what they could cram into 2 or even 4 pages (two pages back-to-back). At most, the journal should have 1800 words in those two pages, and at average, 900 words. Unless the "Journal" is the size of a Bob Ross painting, in which case, have at it.

🇬🇧 How very profound & mindful Its like the Dark Night of the Soul, and some. When i worked in mental health i often listened to those who had suffered many years with mind demons & trying to find a pathway out of the madness that had overtaken their minds. Often times it was harrowing to listen to but they said afterwards that these confessions or expressions was cathartic & gave relief. I hope it was for them & i was sometimes lost for words by the sheer imagery of their soul searching & in this, the intelligence of putting words together that, even despite the horrors, was mezmerising & magnificent & at times beautiful in its exquisite pain & outpouring Looking back i often wished i could have recorded what they said because it would have been pretty amazing to hear & maybe Strike a chord with the listeners Even a book of transcriptions of these torchured souls. Maybe a bit unethical but whos to judge that? I still remember some of those monologues & they still haunt me yet facinate me with the multitudes of the facets we conceive in our minds. Very Powerful emotions. Thank you for this story! It Brought back many memories Dreadfully sorrowful but so real to the person afflicted. Peace 🇬🇧👧

This one hit home, as I found so(/too) many similarities between the uncle Darren character and myself.🙈 I have social anxiety and one thing I'd like to say, though is: I know it's just the main character in the story assuming his uncle might have suffered from an anxiety disorder and there was never mentioned any proper diagnosis. But IF it really was anxiety, I have to say you actually do care about others and about the things happening in your life and theirs. It's not indifference that makes you withdraw from everyone and everything and to isolate yourself (some people might develop a feeling of indifference throughout their life, but at the core it's anxiety symptoms you want to avoid). Sometimes there might even be thoughts like "it's better for everyone when I am not around, anyway" and the like. So... the only 'mistake' I see made by uncle Darren maybe is not getting professional help in whatever way for is mental disorder (but then again, as also was mentioned in the story, it may not have been really available for him, or he/his family didn't think of him as being in need of help)?🤔

SPOILER . . . . . . . . . . SPOILER . . . . . . . . . . So, he interacted with the boy when he was younger. He seemed to have somewhat of a relationship with him. You put your life energy into relationships, creating phantoms. He burned all that he created, leaving only the relationships that he had. The painting had him in a void and a boys hand reaching. His journal had a page covered black, and the narrator just had his hand on the page. Was the void in the painting the page covered black? Was the hand, the hand of the reader? If so, does burninging those two items leave only his relationship with the nephew? Is the voice the phantom of his uncle, having nowhere else that his phantom could go?
