Despite my many misgivings about this film's story and how they wrote Black Adam, his strength and speed were shown remarkably well.

I reckon this film's biggest problem is that it's set in the American superhero movie version of Khandaq, which just doesn't work. It's a brown generic city full of brown generic people who aren't allowed to have any identifiable culture because... well... I think we know exactly which culture they want to avoid depicting, right? But because the people of Khandaq have no identity, the city has no identity, so it doesn't feel like character-in-and-of-itself like Gotham does, nor does it feel like a window into an interesting fictional-but-based-on-reality society like Wakanda does. It's just a place for the Rock to smash up.

@gospelofrye6881 That's certainly *a* problem in the movie, but it's not *the* problem. The biggest issue is that Black Adam is not a hero. He is a villain who only does things that benefit his image and power. It's one of the similarities between Adam and Dr. Doom from Marvel. Both may be good rulers, but they don't rule well because it's the nice thing to do but because it makes them look good. There is no way Black Adam would destroy Khandaq's throne and choose not to rule the kingdom.

@@FallenOne669 Rooting for an antihero is supposed to be like a thrill, borderline titillating, but you're right, he's not just unlikeable, he's not even FUN. I mean it all makes sense, why he's like that, plot-wise, the "twist" explains it but you're left with a sort of... oh, so it's like if Jesus was accidentally replaced by his dad no wait that can't be it, it's like if... wait no this doesn't make any sense allegorically, he should have been the kid's best friend that would work argh". But I want to stick with my "geography mother of history" theory and claim that if Black Adam had been from, say, a Metropolis equivalent of Harlem (I know I know bear with me) then by simple dint of "we have to make this setting feel like Harlem" it would force Black Adam's character arc into something more than just an asshole with powers who smashes stuff until we have to call The White Man Who Is Even More Powerful But It's Not Racist He's Actually An Alien Not A Better God We'd Never Suggest a White God is More Powerful than a Black God Oh No I'm Cancelled Again Aren't I Damnit....

@@gospelofrye6881 Nah subtlety is well appreciated,They are treating the audience with respect allowing us the dignity to know what exactly is being portrayed and who they portraying without Hand Holding as is common today . THINK how the bs writer of MOS lead us to think Supes neck massaging Zod is required ,it was bullsht and out of character.Khandaq is depicted beautifully and enough to connect with the people its depicting. We don't live in a world where its all Sunshines and rainbow. Its always been Grey that is a truth of Mankind. Tet adam is probably the most currently most likable character on big screen like Batman why cause it connects to reality of our world and not fit in an isolated fantasy where Superman and Shazam operates. But that does not mean Shazam is bad NO he is perfect as well , A child grown up in the suburbs of America the richest nation of our time in a family where he is loved and cared for and there is nothing unlikable with that,he is a child relatable normal and THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. Black Adam is evil.....Okay....erm why is he evil cause he want more power?? why he wants more power? WHAT RIGHT DO SUPERMAN HAS TELLING TO OTHERs THEY CAN't be trusted with more power?? Don't forget Black Adam was not chosen by the wizard his son was a slave vs Billy Batson an Orphan struggling with......Adoption problems now tell me who has it worsts a slave or a kid under a failed system. Spiderman is more successful than supes cause More Power More responsibility its sum thing superman never exercising.His Kit is fun while supes is all fantasy OOO he strong cause he just........this sht won't sell anymore for today's generation yea we love him but only as fantasy while spidey hits heart. Which is why Batman sells more than supes cause again Gotham is New York we all now what criminal cesspool New york has been in the pre 2000s with mobs and organized crime.....It represents an element of Reality or relatability. The overdone hype pretty much ruined expectations. Thanks Dwayne. It's actually a pretty good movie. But... like all DC movies lately the backstory feels crammed and rushed. DC should have focused more on pace rather than competing with Marvel. The drive for profit versus audience entertainment was a huge miss. The producers of this production should know better.

The issue with this movie was his backstory. If they were going to make Black Adam good in the future. They should have at least had his reason for being imprisoned in the past was because he became an evil ruler. Like in the comic. Then they could have set his motives for helping the good guys in the future anyway they wanted. This would have made more sense.
