probly the biggest reasons i'd regret the Rock's passion project not becoming a franchise becuz even with all it's faults this movie had real potential. Exploring the mythology of the true champion Hurut, his father Teth Adam and Kahndaq as one of the oldest civilizations and maybe the earliest democracy on the planet going back nearly 5000 years not to mention the themes of whether or not global superheroes should intervene in other countries whenever there's a need or only when agents of the government like Waller allows them to.

@@cheezelog3889 yeah I guess, but that was more discussed and this movie actually showed a case where there IS a situation where that the heroes didn't intervene in. we don't see the oppressed citizens of a third world country boo the avengers for not giving a crap about them. here, we have the benefit of the khandaqi being main characters as opposed to a hypothetical in an argument. I thought civil war was great, but it put that as a secondary while having a more personal conflict as their driving force (being about the bucky situation). again, this movie didn't really do the most with that conceit either, but I wouldn't give the MCU that much more credit..
@lavagurl0541 Жыл бұрын
A fairly accurate reason I follow is the fact that they’re answering to Amanda Waller, who canonically only cares about America’s best interests. All other forms of the Justice Society, Justice League, they worked with the United Nations and took special care to make sure they weren’t being biased to any one nation. Superman even gives up his american citizenship so the US cant use it to influence other nations. So since Amanda Waller probably doesnt care much for kahndaq, she doesn’t send them to help. But when a guy comes in who’s super powerful and who she CANT control, she sends them in to apprehend him. And then the threat at the end when she’s trying to establish power over him, and sends Superman to fight someone who completely embodies 1 of his 3 weaknesses. Brilliant.

I think “Dwayne giving it his all” is the main problem here. They clearly wanted to reboot the universe with new actors, then the Rock comes in and tries to go behind everyone’s back and bring back Cavill (even though he probably knows to an extent that bringing him back in full is unlikely) in order to get people to see his movie, leading to this whole fiasco. No wonder he had to fight so hard to get Henry back. And then somehow it’s James Gunn who gets made out to be the villain after all of this instead of the people who completely ruined the DCEU until it was unsalvageable.

i also liked Hurut's role as the rebellious yet heroic, idealistic youth turned champion of Kahndaq whose storyline could've been compared and contrasted as an ancient version of Billy Batson aka modern-day Shazam - i wish the movie would've expanded on his story in ancient Kahndaq and the underworld's demonic forces unleashed at the Rock of Finality more. Sidenote: Imagine if Hurut didn't give up his power or Teth Adam hadn't been imprisoned by the wizards for almost 5000 years, any other ancient culture or civilization (Egypt, Babylon, Rome, Persia, Mongolia) that rose up to challenge them would've been instantly crushed/assimilated and ended up worshiping either of them as their One God. That means no Christ, No Odin or Zeus, No Allah, No buddhism, No Tngri...etc - as the earliest civilization in DC Comics literally the entire Earth Prime would've been born, lived and died Kahndaqi.

@SpiritxEnigma Жыл бұрын
The Rock is simply there for an easy payday in the spotlight & refuses to make himself look villainous or vulnerable. Both John Cena & Dave Bautista have more range than him. They also both have passion for their wrestling roots. Batista was insistent on closing the final chapter of his career with Triple H (the guy who helped kickstart it) & Cena still makes the time to come back to put shine on the newer talent. The Rock’s cousin, Roman Reigns, had a major glow-up in the late Summer of 2020 going from hated hero to appreciated villain as the Tribal Chief. WWE has built him up as their top champion for the past 2 1/2 years & his faction (the Bloodline) has been responsible for some of the best wrestling storylines of this generation. You would think the logical endgame would be The Rock coming back & putting his family over in the Head of the Table feud for his final match. They’ve been teasing it for a while. They first asked him last year & he couldn’t do it in Dallas. Even Cena made time to give him the rub in the Summer of 2021. WrestleMania 39 is in Los Angeles this year of all places & Dwayne STILL couldn’t make the time because he’s busy putting out mediocre films & “can’t get in shape.” Now he’s saying MAYBE he can do WM40 in Vegas. I get he makes more money from acting & I don’t blame him for taking it, but c’mon man, you had a couple years to prepare to do something big for your family & you’re not putting out any award-winning performances anyways. There’s just no passion in anything he does.
@SpiritxEnigma Жыл бұрын
I just wish Dwayne put more effort into a dream role he’s been trying to land for years, but yeah, I agree this movie should’ve had him going from anti-hero to villain. I would’ve had the Black Adam vs. Justice Society battle take place in the 3rd act where he bests them but some escape & then they have to call upon Superman or Shazam to take him on in another film. We need more projects with villains as the protagonist. Infinity War & Joker did it really well. I hope Marvel does it when they introduce Doctor Doom. A Books of Doom origin series would be perfect for him.

@Justin Blackwood It contradicts what little we're told about Dr Fate in the movie. They state he's possessed by the helmet, which is similar to the comics. If you're possessed, you're not going to have the free will to take the helmet off. It just one of many examples of how they didn't pay attention to the details in the script, and the movie suffered for it. All they had to do is change the description of how the helmet works. It's not like they were aiming to be comic accurate. Anyway, if you're just looking for a popcorn film, sure, it's fine.

So we’ll have to see if they use the Williams’ theme or create a new Superman theme. If they’re creating a new theme, boy… the expectations are immensely high since we have two great Superman themes.

My biggest problem with this movie is how the Rock made it seem like Black Adam was going to be a major villain, and I think in the end all he did was kill less guys than Batman in BvS. The Rock also refused to even cameo in the Shazam movie. The actor who plays Shazam's evil arch rival, refused to go up against Shazam, because he didn't want to look like a villain, while playing of of DC's most powerful, ruthless and evil villains.

No he killed more but he’s not a antihero he just kills bad people. Iron man and Cap have done that look in the same universe Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman have done the same. A real anti hero is Namor who killed anyone who got in his way even innocents

That's more an issue of Dwayne not wanting to be second fiddle.

@@userious258 Yeah, but even then, that's not enough to paint him as wrong or ambiguously villainous when the story pretty much takes his side and made the JSA look like incompetent whiners.

A few silly jokes aside, it was a good first movie for Black Adam. I think Dwayne Johnson strove to deliver something of quality, as well as something that the public wanted and wants: Henry Cavill as Superman.

True. I heard about this for years before it came out. Putting up his own money. Pushing studios. For that reason a lone I watched it.

Hoping you react to Matilda The Musical. So long as you know it's an adaptation of the pre-existing stage musical, which is based off the original book and not inspired by the 1996 film.

That mid-credit scene is so awkward, but also kind of funny to me now. I watched it late, so watching that scene for the first time made me excited while also uncomfortable, like "They got him back, Henry's back! But now he's not back". Yeah, it does suck that Cavill's not getting that second chance, he deserved it but oh well. I am looking forward to what Gunn and Safran have in store though, at least we'll have a cohesive universe that's worth having....

im happy for him that he's not back. I hope that he gets the freedom to do warhammer 40k as he envisions. He's passionate about warhammer. It sucks he has to move on from witcher and superman but hopefully he can be in a place to push his passion. I think he does fantastic work when it's something he is passionate about.

@@jarednavarrete1740 It absolutely could be. It could be the modern MCU, which is a trash fire that won't be put out for years until every penny has been wrung from it. It's even worse because they're using nobodies, and I don't know if they can replicate with future movies what they did with "The Suicide Squad". I just don't know how viable it's going to be.

I've always liked characters like Black Adam, Kratos, and Alucard (from Hellsing). Where despite them being gods, they still use extreme violence when they're attacked by regular guys that are really of no threat to them. I always saw it as that since they weren't originally super powered, they still act as if they could die, sorta instinctually defending themselves. To quote Hellsing Ultimate: Seras: "Master... these are humans.." Alucard: "Your point?" Seras:"These people are human beings!" Alucard: "I don't care what these things are! They came here to try and kill us!"

Hey guys loved your reaction to Black Adam. At your comments at the end, please do watch the 4 Christopher reeve movies and include the theatrical and donner cuts of 2 and also you need to watch Returns as well to end the series all together please. And also you should do reactions to the 4 batman movies from 89 to 97 in lead up for the Flash movie to as Keaton is gonna be back in that movie too please. I would love that so much for both movie series please

My biggest issue with this movie was how the "heroes" had the nerve to tell Black Adam he was wrong for killing bad guys. When they were doing nothing to stop said bad guys in the first place.
