I just decided to get bids to restore our pool as the black algae we have seems to thrive in older worn out plaster with rough texture. I've been using a power washer since last May, thought it was a crazy idea until I saw your video. I started out with the regular tip but found that a 'Turbo Nozzle' worked much better.

+Patrick Walker I agree. Plus, once plaster is too pitted, trying to keep black algae from taking over is almost a full time job. But pouring some diluted chlorine like in the video helps a whole lot. Hope you have resolved your problem. Thanks for watching, Lucy

Black algae and pebble tec has to be the most discouraging problem of all other issues related to pool ownership combined. Unfortunately, pebble tec allows algae to thrive behind the finish only to rear its ugly head when the slightest imbalance of water conditions occur, a sleeping colony lies behind pebble once black algae is found and refinishing is the only permanent solution. Ask me how I know :( Pebble Tec - NEVER again. Plaster or fiberglass now on.

+trpshooter I couldn't agree with you more! I do not understand the allure of a pebble finish pool. I'd stick with plaster though...steer clear of vinyl. More problems waiting around the bend. Thanks for writing in, Lucy
