I respect this sista. She was correct, this type of arrangement is not for everyone. Personally, I cannot be in such a marriage but I do not criticize those that are. I also respect the man, as he has made her his wife and is not cheating on his first wife. There are many women in relationships with men in the US who are not married to them; typically, these men have women 'on the side'; These are actually polygamist marriages, but without the paper.

Stop spreading falsehoods, chief!!! I'm a Ghanaian too, and I know of no Akan or Ashanti custom that demands that a chief marries more than one wife. In fact, I know many Ghanaian chiefs who are married to ONE wife. It's a choice you have made; say so. Is polygamy an accepted practice in the broader culture, yes. But it is fast becoming obsolete, even among the most traditional of Ghanaians. So, tell your story but don't make it sound like you had no choice; you did and still do! Also, stop insinuating that in Ghana women can't think for themselves; they do! Several ghanaian women are as forward thinking and independent as women everywhere.

I love this video, been in polygamy before..I was kool with it but hubby messed up..he and the other wives couldn't get along. I got tired of the drama they brought and left him with all of them fighting like mad. I was the first wife. I'm happily married again with Kids and my second husband does not want anyone else but me. Thank God! lol and my ex husband regrets taking those 4 women..wished he had stayed with me alone..smh too bad! Polygamy isn't easy: the problem is that the man must choose the right women with high moral conduct and for the right reasons; he must be a very fair and upright strong man as well. Polygamy is a very pure and beautiful path with the ideal individuals practicing it! It can also be your Hell...and majority of the time it's the women making the husband miserable or turning him against his other wives because of their jealousy and envy. For those brothers interested in practicing it plzzz if you want to be happy: do not choose clingy jealous and vindictive women with low self esteem.

“I want you in my life, but I don’t need you in my life.” As a woman who aspires to be married one day, I would never feel that way about my husband. American women that will be repatriating to Africa will have to learn how to shed some of their Western ways. It’s okay to let your guard down and allow the man to take control. Now mind you I said: shed SOME of their Western ways…NOT ALL. African men are all about building their Empire. The Chief is going to accomplish a lot with his wife as a life and business partner.

This was a really good vid. I can see how this Arrangement could work. Especially if everybody is working together as a group like she said a team. I love that she said she's more logical I identify with that. But I also love the fact that she said she's more business orientated. Then the other wife is more about caring for the home. So in this way the two women really get to do, in a sense what they're comfortable doing. I can also see if there is a balance between the two wives neither one will feel burnt out. Because sometimes as a wife you can carry a heavy load. Not saying the husband doesn't. I'm divorced & you can end up doing everything cooking, cleaning, sex, work & so forth. But if you had somebody else to balance that out, you wouldn't be so drained. Then you can avoid feelings of resentment, because at times you can feel your husband isn't doing enough been there done that.... Peace & Bliss

As a Black American married to an African woman, this interview resonates with me. When he referred to his wife's mind as masculine, it is so true. Many african women, especially from the rural areas do not have that assertiveness, confidence and independent mindset of american women. They aren't used to make decisions, planning or orchestrating things to the degree that american women are. Those type of responsibilities are traditionally handled by men, therefore women never get the chance to develop strong critical thinking skills and all the mechanics necessary to navigate society like american women do. It has really made me admire the autonomy and strength of the black american woman.

Speaking as an African woman... It's usually very funny when we see a 2nd wife demanding her man not get another. That he got you he has tremendous potential to get another, if he doesn't marry another he will definitely have mistress. Also that she allows him to talk down on the 1st wife, she should know that she is next on the chopping board. When he gets a 3rd, her being a "man" will now be what he talks about with #3 as her weakness as a wife. In Swahili we say "Wembe ni ule ule" meaning "the same razor will be used"... The razor he has used to cut his 1st wife is the razor he will use to cut his 2nd. As number 2, she needs to show her man that he can't disrespect 1 infornt of her. She is snickering because she thinks she is the smarter and better one since #1 prefers to be a housewife.

Consensual polygamy is more honest than current non-monogamist sexual mores and practices in America today. Polygamy has existed from the beginning of human civilization. Since Adam and Eve were expelled from Eden. Those brothers had to marry sisters in those early stages of human development. Procreation was a huge factor in agrarian societies. In industrial societies polygamy is not as common. Seen it function in African Islamic countries like Senegal. Seemed to function okay when men were wealthy; disastrously when the men were not. Knew of 3 lovely young women forced to polygamously marry men they hardly knew by religious and family elders. A friend "married" another girl to keep her from a forced polygamous marriage.l would not want it for my daughters. I believe biblical monogamy is best as rare as it is today.

Afrikan cultures are very powerful and they exercise it to the fullest. Thanks.

Thank you Brother Uhuru, you can't imagine how much problem you have solved so easily with this video.....it's extremely contagious..at least more African Queens and kings coming back Home will find their proper places...as Africans with our traditions on the Continent....

Dynast will kill me!! He is asking to the woman: Which days do you have!.... 😂😂😂😂 I was like dying out of laughter! Well I do not subscribe to polygamy but it is part of our culture. The negative sides of it in general are just too much for me. It's already hard enough in a household with two people, talk less of one with three, four or five people!!!

As much as it sounds fun when you first hear it, polygamy is not a walk in the park, you ought to be prepared mentally, physically, emotionally, financially and spiritually.

That young chief spoke in code that few will understand. Not even dynast got it! Having 2 wives is attached to the power of a chief. They MUST do so, so that they spiritually acquire some powers. The more powers they get, the more mighty they feel they are. So... To each his own.

People don't understand that marriage is so much more than how we feel about each other, or how good the sex is. Its family, organization, community building and development, its social and legal contracts between husbands and wives, their families and communities, its dynamic and ever changing. Wives in African cultural polygamous relationships are not powerless, they can leave if they have unresolvable issues just like in western marriages, but unlike in western marriages the community around husbands and wives are supposed to be more proactive in helping and counseling them to overcome difficulties (I say supposed to, bc realistically they don't always). If I were in a better position financially I'd consider pologamy seriously. I think I have the maturity, mentality and level headedness/balance it requires. I know many women - some I dated previously and are now just friends with, and some are just straight friends - that I get along with who have children without a father in their lives and I see how it's affecting both the mothers and the children; they don't feel safe or protected, the children don't know a father's love, they feel abandoned; they don't have any standards to judge what being a good man is; the children are constantly around feminine energy and its having a polar opposite effect than it should - the boys are becoming overly effeminate and the girls are becoming overly masculine; the mothers are constantly stressed out and worried about money, lonely, angry, etc. It's not good at all. And as the mothers search for the western ideal monogamous relationship and marriage, they either expose their children to too many strange men or don't expose them to any men at all. We as Africans in 2021 need to come up with some solutions to repair our family structures and organize our communities and nations - and to the men, as the old folks say "stop thinking with your little head and think with your big head." If you don't think she's marriage material don't have sex with her, or for God's sake wear a damn condom! These babies out here are suffering.

This is how Ghanaians culture shape a man life. Respected and loved you woman as your second mother. That makes them quite when they around women. Our culture tell as your wife is your second. Listen to her. Most women who don't have patience can see romantic and loving side of most GHANAIANS men. the chief is quite and respectful to let his second mother when she talking. I really like his wife, she is a master psychologist. She is in control he realizes it, but there is nothing he can do about it, because that is the way American women are. I think she is much stronger than her husband if only for the fact that she was in the military and has been through some stuff. All that aside, they really compliment each other and work as a team.
