For all my travels as a child and young adult, including going to South Korea while myself serving in the USAF, I can say one thing for a fact.... Simply being a person who lacks good "social skills" knows no color. I've met some pretty rotten white people, black people, Korean people, hispanic people etc. To this day, if you wanna be friendly with me, I will return that same kindness. I don't care what your skin color is. Hateful behavior knows no color. I live in Atlanta, you don't see me walking around downtown late at night. And there is no such thing as exploitative wages. People get paid what their labor is worth. No more, no less. If someone’s effort is worth more than what a company is willing to pay, he could take his offer to another company which might hire him for more. This is something that is extremely common among high paying jobs, such as engineering. Companies have to compete for skilled labor. The reason they can pay what you call “exploitative” wages for some jobs is that just about everyone with a pulse can do those jobs, and there’s little competition that goes into finding unskilled laborers. Blaming others also stunts people's development, because it prevents self-reflection and looking what you yourself could do to improve your situation. That of course applies the most, when it is your own fault, but it is even true to some extent if something really is another person's fault. Even then you can often find something to learn or improve upon if you look at yourself. It also applies to both individuals and communities. If I wanted to undermine somebody long term, I would encourage them to choose such easy outs that feel good and prevent improvement.

I tell my kids this all the time, my older 2 usually roll their eyes & finish my sentence for me now that they're grown. Lol Personal responsibility is probably one of the most important lessons to learn very early on in life. No matter what someone else has done, _you_ are responsible for what you do w/ it, for how you feel, & for how you react. No one is responsible for that but you. Forgiveness is also very important & goes right along w/ it. Forgiving others & forgiving yourself helps you to stay humble, kind & filled w/ peace. And neither forgiveness nor personal responsibility means acceptance or tolerance of another person's bad behavior, it just means that you're responsible for your own. It's simply having control over yourself, something these younger generations today don't seem to understand.

Having North Korea as its neighbor, South Korea has been plagued by socialism and radical leftist ideas that have slowly infiltrated its society for a long time since the downfall of military regime in South Korea. Now, families are breaking apart. People are not marrying, birthrate has dropped to the lowest of the world, women and men hate each other, people blame the system for everything and rely on the government. It's a mess. All those left ideas infiltrated in the society, and people voted the worst president. The current government now controlled by democratic party thoughtlessly donates tons of tax money to poors only to gain more votes. This has not improved anything over 5 years. With the votes gained, leftists took over majority of the seats in council, and now they are even changing the constitution!!! Ridiculous! South Korea is going through the worst possible situation. I hope the U.S. doesn't go through the same route.

Most of the conservatives in South Korea are over 50 or 60 and they rely on news or newspapers. Korean news don't cover in depth of what's happening outside of Korea. You're a real breath of fresh air in a mad world, Candace and this extremely rational talk, applies to all colours. Thank god you have the platform and voice to be heard above the ruckus, too. Being in my 50's I know damn well that not only was racism trained out of people my age in pre-adolescence (via the school system, post civil rights movement) but I also know lgbtq rights were done and dusted in the 90s and a "trannie" was never meant to mean "sex change" - it was just a gay man who dressed in drag for kicks or profit. Yes, there are racists (and homophobes) out there, absolutely - but white people are not racist from birth and kids are naturally not racist - it's something learned no matter your colour. Hate is a learned thing, love and acceptance of others, is natural. All these new terms like "CIS gendered" and the entire trans/gender thing, is intended to divide and create hate out of nothing, it is not about inclusion or acceptance. Keep speaking out PLEASE. You have far more support than you probably even realize.

You're absolutely right Candace. When I was a teen, I internally used to blame everyone else that things didn't pan out the way I wanted. As a result, I achieved little to nothing. But lack of guidance also played a part in it. But when I started to take responsibility for my own actions, started making my own decisions, and started standing up for myself, things did begin to change. I didn't have to wait for someone else to do things for me, I could do it myself. Finally I understood how the world works. When I watched the first Iron Man movie in 2008, and heard the line "If my math is right, and it always is, 3 giga joule pr. second", that's when things really started to move for me. And ever since that moment, I've moved forward and haven't looked back since.

Love her message, as a black man its still gets to me when i raised in a all white school. Faced a lot of racism but found some good people at the worst time. Know im dealing withe the opposite my own people saying things like, "i dont know any black man that dresses like that", "he's not black he white wash" and on and on. I know im not the only one who has dealt with something like this and it shows the hate we have within ourselves. To belittle another black man because he doesn't share your views will allows hold us back. Being educated shouldn't be shunned or put down we need to encourge are new generation that being smart is a good thing and not "un cool".
