I did the same for my own. This is, by my opinion, the best battery screwdriver ever made (I had it 5,and I still have one other for easy jobs). This one is hard-worker. Mine, is nearly 35 years old. What i did, i put two same li-ion batteries in parallel. Little work should be done inside the housing to set them to fit firmly - 2 small black plastic pins placed on one side of the body, should be moved - the housing is so narrow that only in this way, two batteries can fit together. And then the small electronic PCB, has such connection that LED is spending electricity which I don't want, for the purpose of charging batteries externally. I took one TP4056 charging module and the old, very nice and robust Nokia 1.2 A, 5V adapter from the old Nokia phone, then connect the TP4056 module for charging. As I said, originally, LED is glowing when charging. I turn it off, cause module itself has charging LED's status. Anyway, screwdriver with 2 batteries works for long time without recharge. At the end - the hole, for the middle screw, which cannot be used any more, causing the case to be, let's say, not so strong. So, I took inner bike tire, from the ususal, children-size bike (I cannot remember the size), and cut the piece of 12 cm, and pulled onto screwdriver, to hold firmly the rest of the case. This way, it even gets better, to have rubber under your palm, when you working with it.

Good idea using 2 batteries.

Hello!! Can you clarify if after placing the two 18650 batteries it can still be charged with the original charger in the holder for that purpose?? Thanks.

Clever how you did that pete on the old black and decker still a useful screwdriver well done

Works better than newer ones now.

There is space to install two 18650 batteries. I mod my similar scredriver with two parallel and a TP4056 charger module.

I may do that if I find the battery doesn't last long enough.

Would it be sensible to add a BMS(battery management system) to the battery to prevent over-discharging? You can get small circuit boards with them on. I cant recommend which one though.

Yes I did a follow up video of installing one of those.

@@MidlandBulletRiders mind sharing the link to said video? I'm restoring one of these now that my dad had stashed away in the shed for yrs. 😂 Trying to get my hands on the charging cradle too, but adapt it to work with modern fast-charging batteries. It'd be great if a rechargeable battery with a usb-c port built in is feasable with the proper voltage. I can charge it while it sits in a vertical holder on the wall.

Hello!! After completing the work of installing the lithium batteries, I realize that I lost the trigger button on the screwdriver. Can you tell me where I can buy it?? Thanks
@MidlandBulletRiders Жыл бұрын
I doubt you can. Probably best looking out for a broken one being sold.

did you try to place 3*18650 in it?

Just fitted battery overcharge module in it, wouldn't I need one for each battery?

@@MidlandBulletRiders if you connect several cells in parallel, you dont need separate module for each, one is enough

just tried to fit 3 cells into my bd9019. no way :(( but 2 cells fit fine.

Where is the battery management pcb to prevent overvoltage and overdischarge not to mention overcurrent! Very dangerous with 18650 lithium ion cells. Moderator Should have this video as encouraging people to unwittingly set their house on fire.🔥
