Charles, you want somethink "like" this: www.adafruit.com/product/259 and adapt it. There are far cheaper LiPo charging circuits out there you can find. Just be wary of "random ebay" stuff. A safe charger will either have a yellow temperature wire, OR it will have resistor pads to dial up or down the fixed current to a range appropriate for your battery size (mAH capacity). Unfortunately this isn't as simple as cutting wires and swapping in completely different battery tech.

You wired those cells in SERIES and 2 x 18650's in SERIES gives 7.6V! But hey! the motor will probably take it! BTW what did you do with the original little 1A diode in series with the NiCd's? Keep or remove? Better to keep it in case you accidentally short the charging clips. Li-On batteries tend to catch FIRE if you do that! thank you for posting your video, i just got my B&D screwdriver same as yours and i got the idea of upgrading it. :D but for the batteries you replaced, i think what you did is not a Series connection as you said, it was parallel connection and its not 3.6v its just 1.2v cause the 1024mah was the one added (current capacity, not the voltage) the three old batteries are the ones connected in series i guess, cause as far as i know 1cell = 1.2v then on series you are adding the voltage and retaining the current, so 3cells (1.2v) in series is equal to 1.2 x 3 = 3.6v. so i think you just made your B&D battery supply into a 1.2v 2048mah. any way that's just what i think. hehe and you did great though. thanks for the idea. :)

I woud be careful because you run the risk of overstressing the max discharge rate of the cells for example, if your screwdriver gets stuck the motor then draws a "high" current lets say 4A [4Ax4V=16W] and thats maby to much. It can cause a venting of the cells. Often laptop cells are not designed for such a high load they use a chemistry that is more focused on the max capacity with a small Amperage draw (low C discarge rating). The cells that you can find in Powetools, or if you need an extremely high current in RC LiPos, are build in a way that they can withstand a really high continius amperage draw but dont hold that much capacity (high C discharge rating) Overall nice and good quality content ;D but a bit dangerous

Don't do this !!! Edit march 2021, The author has fixed the problem, see his reply and look at his new version 1/ This is parallel, not serie 2/ Charging this is *** dangerous ***. Batteries may take fire or even explode. You must add a charging board.
@MyPlayHouse3 жыл бұрын
Well It still works great! But I did make a new version,,too : kzbin.info/www/bejne/raOZgZ1phal5mMU That can be charged from USB.

@@MyPlayHouse Well done ! This is a lot lot better :-D

haha, you keep that broken battery until 2017. well, much better than throw it in trashcan. there are very few place to recycle the old broken ion battery.
@MyPlayHouse7 жыл бұрын
Hi 黄辰旭 Thank You very much! We have a system here, that if you put your used/broken batteries in a transparent plastic bag, and put them on the top of your garbage can. The garbage company will take them. So I do really not have to do much! Thank you for watching! :-)

lithium callium, hrm i think i know why it was zero volts there is no such metal as callium!! you need a different electron voltage in order to make a battery! :D JK just having fun, yes on the polyfuse!

Ya beat me to it. Those lithium callium batteries are hard to find. The guy is a genius. He's invented a new element. It will go on the periodic table next to bullshitium.
@SuperBrainAK6 жыл бұрын
Jeffrey Deutsch you can actually make a pretty good battery with bullshitium ive tested one I made at home and it gave me 20000mAh
