Excellent explanation and video quality. The pace of the presentation is pretty good. Detailed explanation of how the rectifier works. Also the requirement of using thermal paste is well explained. I loved your video. You have paid lot of attention to the details like a professor. Thanks for creating such a useful video and sharing it. I will use this knowledge in future in the Kobalt corded lawn mower, model KM211 which I just bought and started using it. Hats off to you, Sir.

@8:31 when you say "down here is the filter blah blah blah", that's actually a brake resistor. It stops the engine quickly when you let off the handle.

Wow that was an excellent video. Thanks! I have an electric lawn mower that is causing a breaker to trip and this could be the reason.

There is a diode test position on your digital multimeter. A good diode will show open circuit in one direction and about 0.6 volts in the other direction. Two failure modes are possible in theory. You found one with the 200 Ohm range resistance test...that was a short circuit. I am not certain if a diode would ever fail as an open circuit but if so the diode test function might show that when the resistance test will not.

Very informative. Can you weigh in on what causes the B&D 13 amp electric motor to overheat and turn off?
@AaaBbb-vy7zh Жыл бұрын
I would say open up the motor and clean it it can be from grass clippings getting filled in there getting between the motor brush
@dwaynedaniels8140 Жыл бұрын
From what I have read, a major cause of overheating is people using el cheapo 16 gauge wire on the extension cord. If your extension cord is 50 feet or less, you should use 14 gauge cord. If your cord is 100 feet, you CAN use 14 gauge but 12 gauge is better. Using too light of a causes a voltage drop which will heat up the motor, or at least that's my understanding. Your motor won't die immediately, but it will shorten its life.

Wow... I was thinking why would I look at the electrical explanation if I don't know #$%& about it.. but I understood the whole thing. wow.. I made sense and I was able to understand what was going on. You are really good at explaining stuff. even if it's not something I felt knowledgeable about, I was able to understand the whole information and why was the breaker tripping. Thanks a lot..

the Rectifier blew the circuit breaker in the house..flip the house circuit breaker, cleaned out the mow housing..it works, but as below, the visual on the wires on the rectifier help alot. Before you tear the mower apart, check the house circuit breaker.

I have the exact same mower but the issue is that it will turn on but at an incredibly low operating speed as if the motor is not drawing the full amount of power to turn the blade and eventually after turning it off and attempting to turn it back on it fails to start it wont turn back on until either a couple hrs or the next day but again at that incredibly slow operating speed.

Thank you for this video. My 2015 B&D mower just died and this video is very helpful. I've ordered a new Bridge Rectifier. How would you get access to check the motor's brushes?

Conceivably, could you remove the bridge rectifier etc and change the mower into cordless since the motor is dc?
@sashasmail-h6c7 ай бұрын
Yes, you would need a 120v battery, maybe series batterys.

I plugged my nan for a few hours at turning green the light and when I started it and it seemed like he was going fast enough to cut grass so when I laid it down to cut it wasn't cutting it would turn off and then I turned back on and I laid down if I touch it would turn off what do I do?

Caused by using to light/ thin cord. Nothing lighter than a 14 gauge a twelve gauge is even better. Remember the smaller the number the thicker the cord.
