Black and Gold Casio A159 Mod

Since lots of you liked my Black and Gold Casio mod I made another! This one is a little more Gold than Black. This time I used Casio A159 as main piece and bracelet from Casio B640. I used inverted display which I got manufactured and hopefully they will be available to buy by the end of next week.

As someone else just remarked, Great introduction; love your video production quality, too! I was just wondering, do you ever get any feedback/flak from Casio corporate regarding your mods? Surely they must be aware of them, and must truly be impressed with what you are able to do with a very humble watch, transforming it into something very, very classy! I have a feeling, fluorinert filling could make it better, to eliminate double reflection from bottom of the crystal and top of the display. To make the face look more uniform black with digits floating in darkness.

Love the effect, curious if affects the battery life as you're essentially activating more of the cells to invert?

There is no affect on battery life. This is liquid crystal display and all the 'cells' are preset in manufacturing process. Display is inverted by placing polarizing filter at a different angle.

Casio does not sell this watch. They sell Black/Gold A168

@@Techsas Right, I get that. I just meant that the color scheme is the same. Gold case, black face, negative display and black band. Plus the stock A168WEGB-1BEF has the EL backlight instead of the weedy led light. Is the reason the red and blue color details on the face? The slightly thinner case? Battery savings from the lack of EL? Just legitimately curious what this configuration offers that is preferable to the A168WEGB-1BEF for you personally. Thanks for replying!

Buy the black strap version and change it. You can find black displays in my etsy.

If you go to @4:55 when one of the spring-bars decides to go for a hide and seek round, you will see that, indeed, it is an A159 WGE
