I honestly think that cat/oven is killing aggro more than anything else in this format. You basically have to run trample or flying. Sure the sweepers really suck, but there's no counterplay to cat/oven

@@MineRoyale. Yeah I agree for the most part. But like so many people have pointed out. Cat/oven being popular is just another reason scavenging ooze is so good. It just shuts down almost everything. Shuts down escape, re-animator, cat/oven and can make cards like ECD way worse. But yeah most colors just have very few ways to deal with it. And outside of green its not like theres a ton of good trample cards.

I really only play oven as another sacrifice outlet because it's good to have vs exile removal or the 1 mana act of treason.

Lurrus is actually a good substitution if you do not have the Spawn of Mayhems. I put two in deck and it jives so well with the Mire's Grasp & Deadweight enchantments and Hateful Eidolon!

Played a TON of this deck all the way through the end of plat and most of diamond. Just hit D1 and pushing for mythic. Made some modifications if anyone is interested. The previous iteration just gets absolutely slapped by Rakdos sacrifice. Hey @CGB, I hope you're having a better day than you were yesterday. As for me, well: My FNM tonight left me tilted off the wall because of Mutate. I'm still fuming. It makes me want to quit standard and stick to Commander. Went from first place position at the beginning of the last round and went 0-2 to an Umori "oops all creatures" sultai Mutate deck that my humble Golgari Adventures deck couldn't answer. All that bumped me down to 4th FREAKIN' PLACE. It's bullcrap, who thought Mutate was a balanced mechanic and let it go through the minds of RND and into production. I honestly hate Standard right now and I get more and more discouraged with every FNM.

Strategy question: when facing a likely Claim the Firstborn when you have an Eidolon and a Regisaur in play, is it ever correct to Embrace the Eidolon instead of the Regisaur to give your opponent a tougher choice? It means you miss out on the card draw no matter which one they Claim/sac, but at least it gives you more spread out power and prevents them from using your 10 damage Regi against you... I'm sure this is just a bad idea, I'm just looking for more analysis on exactly why.
