Used to work the "gorilla gate" sometimes before Vince Jr. bought the company and had the chance to see Andre a couple of times in the locker room Simple rule was, you didn't bother or talk to Andre unless it was to tell him it was time for his match. He was polite, if you respected his privacy. He had few close friends in the business, and was friends with very few wrestlers. But he was entertaining. RIP Andre.

Back around 1985 I sat at the bar at the Sheraton Hotel in Atlanta. I was seated next to Andre the Giant. He was a huge man compared to my 6' 2" 220 lb body. The one thing that stood out about him was his clothes and shoes. They were worn and stitched which I thought unusual for a professional wrestler.

@@rickrick5041 like a lot of the guys have said... just the sheer size of the man made it near impossible to do anything with him. He wasn't a guy that you could just throw around. Like George Steele and others would say "you weren't gonna do anything with Andre that he didn't want you to do". Andre although by most accounts a nice guy, he still had a killer instinct when it came to guys that he didn't like, so yeah....he would be a force to be reckoned with in UFC in his prime. A takedown is half the fight, and that would not be easy, and then if you do take him down, how effective would a ground and pound be? What would it be like striking that humongous skull of his or that girth? Andres weakness would be cardio and lack of speed, but still it would take a monster of a man to be effective against him in his prime. But I must reiterate....IN HIS PRIME.

Jeffrey B Ground and pound would be tough because Andre could just reach up with his enormous arms and grab the guy by the neck like he did all the time or just toss the guy off easily. He knew a lot of wrestling moves including submissions. To get a slight idea of what he could do see that shoot fight against the submissions fighter I forget his name. They say that guy easily beat Andre who they say was old and drunk but I don’t think so. Andre refused to do anything but when the guy took Andre down Andre didn’t allow him to do anything and could have ripped his arms off, taken his eyes, thrown him off and done whatever he wanted even though he could hardly move. The guy even had Andre in a real arm bar but Andre simply reached over with his other arm and pushed him away. He also could have rolled over on him and squashed him
