The only thing I don't see in your pack, is baby wipes. A few years ago my buddy told me about them and now we use them not only for the last wipe but cleaning blood off your hands or clothing. I feel so much cleaner after squatting in the field using a baby wipe.

Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Add one thing: S&W 357 magnum or 44 magnum loaded with Underwood solid lead cast ammo to your belt.

My 14 yo nephew took his first Black Bear with a 7-08. I'm thinking about trying one of those Howa mountain rifles. But in all honesty, I don't hunt the mountains as much as I would like. And I love my Tikka 270 wsm for the open land hunts I'm on. But, I've been building up my priority for Big horns and Sheep. So maybe when the deals hit after X- mas I'll pick up a Howa mountain rifle. And find a partner to hit the mountains next year. Gotta check into it though. I've heard rumours that Howa warranty doesn't apply to Canada. Just rumours, but I'll have to see. Anyways Randy, absolutely love your videos. I think I've watched them all. You bring a real to life perspective to hunting, and your concern for wildlife habitat is refreshing. Cheers, keep making these vids!

Cool bag dump Randy. I take a lil more than you do but like you said be prepared & I am ! been caught up high a few times & the 2 others I hunt with are extremely happy that I am.... having survival experience comes in handy alot ! I carry a lil more advanced first aid gear but that's due to being a veteran & have come across others in really bad shape. LOVE THIS VIDEO ! You make'em & I'll keep watching ! : )

I really appreciate your stay with attitude. I just went thru over a year drought pig hunting here in Hawaii. Kept at it & stayed with it, just took a 140lb boar. Talking about earning it, hang in there & hunt hard, that's what we do.

7mm-08 behind the shoulder will take down anything you're gonna find in most places. I bought one for my dad and at first he was skeptical but now he loves it.

Funny joke about the 140 grain 7mm and the bears not getting the memo. I just purchased a 6.5 creedmore and I haven't taken a second shot yet. 1 elk 1 shot. As long as you know your tools, you cannot go wrong.
@whiteyfisk9769

Use the caliber that will work when everything goes wrong, not the one that will work when everything goes right. 22lr has killed elk with perfect shots...why dont you use that?

one thing you can do for fire starters is go buy a bike inner tube from Wal-mart, cut the inner tube up in to strips to make really strong black rubber bands(ranger bands) and in an emergency you can cut them in half and light them up with a lighter!

Not sure. We have some ideas about making some of last season's hunts a day-by-day behind the scenes series, but it does not have the intrigue of not knowing how it will turn out. But for sure we will have some in August.

Excellent selection of gear. TP + TP + TP is comfortable survival. You might want to add a bit more first aid for trauma type situations and a lifestraw as a secondary water purification option. Other than that - well done Sir! Scott

Why do you carry so much stuff, because you can. It's way better to have and not need than be up a creek without a paddle. You go out in the field long enough you are going to run up against bad odds, it's usually then when you find out what doesn't work. Love your videos Randy, keep them coming.

No offense at all Randy, I love your pack on the ground or in the truck; Taking what you do into consideration here's what I take; I take my rifle and clip, binox, flip video cam and some smoked salmon or equal; a knife, bandaids and some bags, incl'd tp. I'm on the low, low . Cell service here very marginal at best of times, none at my cabin. Like your pack though but only if someone else is carrying it or I need to lose some excess weight. Welcome to take mine anytime, hahahah. Time 4 you to get some endorsements on the products you use you have a lot of followers. It seems you tell it like it is ; I like that...cheers

I wish I could get rid of some of that stuff. Over 25 years of doing this, it is my mix of weight versus necessity. My aging legs do complain when I put it on my back. Hardly anything shown in the bag dump are products I get paid to use. There is not enough love or money to get me to use, and therefore show to viewers, a product I think will not work for our style of hunting. That costs me a lot of financial opportunity, but I don't really care. Thanks for watching.

TP? Really? When you're hunting in deciduous and pine forests? And the grassy plains? Here in the mid-west if a man or woman carries commercial TP they're considered a sissy. And if a man hunts a pine forest and does not carry TP he's considered a real man's man and if it's a woman hunting pine without the gentrified paper amenity she's considered a real candidate for marriage and a good role model for her children. Rainin' here again. Dang this lousy weather.
