This video was taken in the Swan Valley within Flathead National Forest. This short clip is part of a project with National Geographic looking at grizzly bear movement from the Northern Continental Divide Ecosystem to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Part of this project focuses on capturing footage of natural grizzly bear behaviors. Swan Valley Connections partnered with Rob G Green to help him locate sites commonly frequented by bears that we have located through dedicated wildlife track and sign.
This clip shows a black bear investigating the DSLR Camera Trap placed by Rob G Green and Jon Johnston - the cinematographers on this project. Bears are incredibly curious animals, and see the world primarily through their nose (their strongest of the five senses). It is common for bears to investigate foreign objects that may smell or sound unfamiliar.
Rob G Green and Jon Johnston are wildlife photographers and cinematographers.
