How do you finish off your threads? I thought you should, when starting or ending, go forwards, then backwards, then forwards a little to ensure that you don't und up with things coming undone. Is that not needed?

Its going well. I've altered her pattern for her. She has sewn up a trial version and is just waiting on wires to come in. Once I know that all my alterations work I will sew up the final version :)

I just bought this pattern and want to do a muslin. What do you recommend for fabrics for a muslin to get your fit right?

You need to use fabric that is similar to what you want the finished bra to be made in. I use sheer cup lining for my muslins or scraps of leftover duoplex

When adding the elastic at the bottom does it need to be measured somehow or just add it along the length?

I never measure. I just add it on and cut off the leftovers
