I am a bra making addict! I made a rubies bra and a orange lingerie bra this weekend. I am now a fan of buying the findings kits from bra builders, which are in Wisconsin in the USA. I do like the bra makers supply in Canada too, but I usually only buy my wires and separate supplies from them. Good luck! I agree, if I can do it, anyone can do it. And , I agree, the homemade bras fit so much better.

@@SewNotes I like the Marlborough bra. I don’t know if the findings kits are cost savers, but I like that everything matches perfectly…I’ll try to put out a video on it this week. Bra builders does sell “kit cuts” of their micro Duoplex and it is divine. I can get two bras easy from a kit cut, depending on size, maybe three. Honestly, I’ve found some basic laces at Joann’s and used those for past Marlborough bras and liked how they looked with tricot lining. And, Liz sews is the best! I don’t even read the instructions anymore, I just use her tutorials.

Hello, Kris, this was a great video! I’m soooo interested in sewing a bra for myself, I’m so frustrated with bras from RTW. I actually plan my outfits around being able to wear a sports bra which is not always the look I actually want. How is your bra-making going? Last winter I ordered from VS for the last time. Nothing fit right or was really quality, so I decided to sew a bra in my actual size the way I want it. I bought the Labellum pattern from LilypaDesign, messed around, made adjustments and made one ok prototype 'first' bra with duoplex and zero frills. Then I made a beautiful lace and foam bra that fits perfectly. Tho I admit, I made about 4 toiles. Now I will never buy off-the-rack bras again. Ever. Finally decided to try Emerald Erin's Black Beauty to compare to the Labellum (which is amazing!) I can't wait to get started on it! Great video! I can't believe your first bra fit right straight from the pattern. Lucky girl! Its a beautiful piece of lingerie you made.

It turned out beautifully! I’ve made a bunch of bras but cannot get the fit right. I even took an online fitting class. I think you always need to adjust the back strap for the hook and eye. Measure the width after you add the band elastic but before you sew the under arm elastic then trim it to fit.

That's too bad about not getting the fit right. Are you using an underwire? I'd be curious to try a different bra pattern to see how the fit would be!

HI Golfgirlv This might be old news by now, but try LiliPad Designs bra patterns if you are still having trouble fitting. She uses a measurement system thats basically "measure across, measure vertically" and I got a perfectly wearable bra from what I meant to be a muslin. Now I'm stuck with an ugly bra because I never thought it would fit out of the gate! :)

@@SewNotes I used the Lanai because I didn't want to mess with underwires on my first try, but I think all of hers use the same sizing type. I'm excited to see what you think. Watching this video you looked just like me when that bra fit. I couldn't believe it. Now all my friends think I'm a master seamstress bc I sew bras and I can barely see a shirt LOL

Surge fabrics has a lot of bra supplies in different colors as well, and I think their prices are pretty reasonable.

I want to sew a bullet bra because I wear 1950s early 60s vintage clothing and those clothes look and fit better wearing the undergarments from that era. Problem is, is that my size is very hard to find in ready to wear. The only bras I have found that fit nicely (and I don't get a be selection of styles and colors) is Victoria"s Secret. I wear size 34G. If I could get a pattern in that size I would be so grateful and happy.

Your bra is beautiful ❤ great job! I sewed a sport bra once..total reject😭 The only bra I found I like is from torrid there's no wires! I cringe from wires😮
