Getting my 640 2.5-25x Smart thermal scope this weekend. read a lot of adverse comments on forums but hope that this is the exception rather than the rule. Would imagine that as this unit has been out in use a while now that any bugs/problems will have been sorted. Keep up the great work.

I consider the ThOR HD 640 2.5x a workhorse. Mine has been very reliable. You will be happy with it!

I would highly recommend going with the ThOR4 series instead. You'll be much happier. Takes worrying about batteries out of the equation completely
@georgiabigfoot4 жыл бұрын
@@TexasJAGD well thanks for the reply but are you sure ? ATN only warranties those built in batteries for 6 years and they cost $800 to replace. The Thor HD will never have that problem

@@georgiabigfoot 6 years will do a lot in this industry. I doubt you will still own the same unit in 6 years, the way this tech is developing. You can sell these easily for good money if you care for them properly.

I'm looking to get an ATN Thor HD 640 100mm scope and I am kinda of worried about it based upon what seems like numerous poor feedback on the scopes having issues breaking down/malfunctioning. Have you had any trouble with yours?
@TexasJAGD7 жыл бұрын
+R Harrison I did have an issue with the internal screen once and had to send it in for a return. Customer service and the support on the FB group have been great. I have a friend with a IR Defense thermal and even with the high dollar price tag, he also had to send it in once for an issue with the automatic focus not working. IMHO, with these scopes getting more and more sophisticated and complex, things will break one way or another.

Does your scope zoom to max 25x or does it stop at 10x. I have the same scope but it stops at 10x. Talked to ATN & they said it's 2.5x10 makes it 25x. Please let me know. Thanks!
@TexasJAGD7 жыл бұрын
+alim chishti you probably didn't set the scope type in settings. Once you set it to (640 2.5x) it will show you the proper zoom level in the graphical interface. If you haven't set it, it will show you the standard zoom factor, which is 10x at max. They are correct that this would make it 25x for your scope.
@CyberMan-2477 жыл бұрын
Texas JAGD, Thanks for the quick response. So, once you set the scope type in settings. Will it show 25x when you're fully zoomed in. Not 10x. Just trying to figure it out. If it's an issue with my scope.

For a city-living dude who knows nothing about any kind of hunting, please explain why the the heavy rain brings out hogs. This is a serious question and I honestly have no idea and I'd like to know.
@TexasJAGD6 жыл бұрын
Softer ground - easier to root up. Hogs also like to wallow in mud. And, hogs have to eat, no matter what the weather looks like.

@@TexasJAGD Thanks! I actually encounter these things in the back country of San Diego County while hiking. An Indian tribe tried to get a game-hunting business started a while ago and released some wild boar on tribal land. Nothing came of the hunting business but of course the hogs escaped and have become a nuisance, which is amazing when you see how dry and desolate that country is - like west Texas only drier. I usually throw rocks at them because I'm afraid they'll attack me: they always seem to have a bunch of piglets in the group (15-30 total hogs). I don't know if they are aggressive but I don't want to find out the hard way. Anyway, I'm sure the local land owners would love to have you visit!
@TexasJAGD6 жыл бұрын
While I've never been charged, it does happen and you should be careful. Sows with piglets are most likely to charge. Boars have very sharp tusks and can lethally injure humans.
