My best friend went through a slasher phase a few months ago, and she didn't make me watch most of them because she knows I can be a bit of a snob about "bad" movies, but she showed me the 1974 Black Christmas. It was my first slasher and I fear it's ruined me for the rest of the genre

People can hate on the 2006 remake how much they want, but at least it had a lot of good actresses from that decade, and gore. The 2019 version had nothing good going for it

My first Black Christmas was the 2006 and I enjoyed it mostly because of the Actresses performance (huge buffy fan and had to watch it after they casted Michelle Trachtenberg) and I hated that they easily killed Leigh on the Final act and I assume that's because of the Weinstein Production interference but was surprised they let the Blonde Girl live because they're the one's that's usually killed off first and Katie Cassidy was in another (horrible) horror remake before this which killed her off (poorly) so I was expecting her to die half way throughout the movie and the 2006 remake presented sisterhood a lot better than the 2019 one and this was before me too. While I do agree the the first one is the superior and creepy one I can't help think that it had a conservative message at the end where Jess sleeping soundly (well she's medicated) will be definitely killed off because the Killer is still in the house and because she had abortion she will be killed. But that's just me.
