Join my friend Gary, Cherry and I for a fun day at the Black Country Living Museum's 1940s weekend! The museum is a small town near Birmingham that's been preserved/created to tell the story of the Black Country from a time gone-by. In this vlog we get traditional Fish & Chips, ride the fair ground rides, see the D-Day Darlings perform and take a canal boat into the mines!
You can check out the museum's website here: www.bclm.co.uk/

I live like 10 minutes away. Every single child has a school trip to the Black Country museum at one point. I knew Gary would not like that mining tour. 🤣 I HATED IT! They used to do a school class session, where you had to write on the board and the teacher would shout at you. It’s a very niche experience. But a good day out. And those fish and chips are SOMETHING ELSE.

Just found this one- looks like fun! Also, looks like the place where a mystery would take place in one of those great British mystery series- “Barnaby and his wife were strolling through the shops at the 1940’s weekend when a scream rang out from the carousel...” Good stuff

Yaayyy. I forgot it was Sunday and i really need to be cheered up and your vlogs always do that so thank youuuu. It's my birthday tomorrow and I'm going to be 16 but I really don't know how I feel about it as I just haven't always been contempt with life for so long now... And I have the added stress of getting my gcse results in just over a week and my brother is just taking the mick and it's annoying the hell out of me so I'm just going to chill and enjoy your vlog for now. THANK YOU ADAM SO MUCH FOR MAKING VLOGS! I don't know what I'd do without them ❤❤❤

THey have something like that here. Connor Prairie, it's a living history museum of the 19th century where people do Civil War reenactments They dress up and you have interactions with them; it doesn't have that cute little amusement park. But, yes this living museum looks neat.

OMG this is very strange to me. This is like 30 minutes from my house 🙈 I used to go just literally to get a bag of chips as if you pay entry once and give to gift aid you got free entry for a year 👏🏻 don’t know if they still do this as it was a good few years ago but it was great for a few hours out.

This looks like so much fun. Here in the states, we certainly have “living history” places, but they either focus on 1776 (our revolution) or 1860/65 (our civil war). We definitely commemorate WWII - just not quite in this way. However, I really need to know : What is Chocolate Veal? I gotta say, it sounds disturbing.

The "black country" is an area of the West midlands, near Birmingham, where I live actually, it's said to have got it's name from the all the smoke from the ironwork foundries and from the coal from all the mining in the area back in the 19th century.

Lisa Morton Thank you for sharing the history. I’m from Western Pennsylvania with its Coal and Steel Industries - 50 years ago there was so much pollution, everything was covered in ash and soot. The resilience and perseverance of the people who lived through those times amaze me.
