play at 0.75 speed, it's about perfect there.

A bit too fast for my taste, but HOLY VIRTUOSITY, BATMAN! If you got it, flaunt it!

What? How? Incredible brass playing. I cannot even imagine what the cornet parts look like. Total respect.
@lalalalelele11893 жыл бұрын
Very fast and very good!! Interesting to see that they didn't use a substitute player for the backrow. I'm sure there are plenty of capable players in Switzerland.

Don't understand a single one of the comments about the too fast tempo. It's brilliantly played throughout - if I only could write fast enough i could write down every single note.
@Diapasonic5 жыл бұрын
Marvelous playing, musicianship, articulation, and control. Widor would have been thrilled to hear this.

Why so fast, detail is lost I feel

I was getting so low with the basses I had to get up off the floor, WONDERFUL

That tempo is more about the skill of the players. Like how fast you can have sex. Not satisfaction, just accomplishment.
@mmmike45442 жыл бұрын
Honestly I usually prefer pieces like this (and also specifically this on the organ), to be played a bit slower... But holy sh*t this is fucking amazing and i wouldn't have it any other way. The articulation is totally on point and to anyone who is saying that the detail is lost, it deffinitely isn't in this performance. Love it!

Damnit, the whole performance is incredible. Compared to a good pipe organ performance, this is equally a good, just different.

Too fast, same like Diane Bish ;)
@briantuma15023 жыл бұрын
Widor himself never played it at this tempo. This is just grandstanding.
@Mark64W2 жыл бұрын
It was their interpretation even if it was ' grandstanding ' as you say . I enjoyed this performance immensely , sorry you didn't .

Too fast to be an accurate interpretation, sounds disjointed in my opinion :(

Why so fast ??? Oh God they disjointed the Toccata ..........

Widor would cringe at hearing his music played at this tempo. The players seem more intent on demonstrating their technical skill rather than producing meaningful music!
@brianadamson23355 жыл бұрын
I doubt if the best organist in the world could play it at this speed - fantastic, well done all but especially the basses and bass trombone.
@pbwbrian534 жыл бұрын
Bramwell Nash Widor might would cringe, but this seems to be about the currently fashionable speed on organ.

The top tier brass bands are only interested in effect and palpable virtuosity.
@Todd135610 ай бұрын
@@brianadamson2335It isn’t played at this speed by any organist-even Diane Bish!
@Euphoftoday7 жыл бұрын
The conductor would do well to hear how it should sound, this is too fast and a cacophony of noise.
@johnb67234 жыл бұрын
Anyone would think that Gwen Stefani was the bandleader here. Or Deejay Poochie.
@SimonPhillips764 жыл бұрын
Why do bands do this? It’s way too fast. And detail is lost. The brilliance of the piece depends on being able to hear the arpeggios rather than just flurries of indeterminate semiquavers. Organists can be just as guilty too.
@Mark64W2 жыл бұрын
Sorry but from I am listening I could hear the detail and I loved this performance . Each unto their own .
@johnb67234 жыл бұрын
This piece was intended to be played using the double beat metronome practice. This twat of a conductor is doing a "Gwen Stefani" and using single beat metronome practice. Charles Widor would be turning in his grave.
@Mark64W2 жыл бұрын
To refer to Nick Childs in that manner is just totally disrespectful . Maybe it wasn't your ' cup of tea' but name calling like that is totally unconstructive . You seem to be quite musically educated so why not use that to inform us rather than abuse to one of the best brass band conductors in the world ?
@explodingsausage65762 жыл бұрын
I think this is more a case of appreciating the skill of the players over the crap tempo chosen by the MD. I see a lot of hate directed to the players, who most of probably agree that the tempo is ridiculous!
