Black Flag is one of my av. bands, and I can barely remember all the singers they had... and how many reunion groups came out a few years back. There was Flag, Black Flag... was there another? I almost said OFF! since it has a similar name with a former member, but I don't think that counts. Ron Reyes is lame now lol. Conservative... that reunion with him sucked.

The vocalist in this song is Ron Reyes, Black Flag's second vocalist, and he's still alive. Black Flag's early sound was punk and their style quickly evolved into hardcore, which is an extreme subgenre of punk.

That is not Henry Rollins...Ron Reyes is singing this song...Black Flags second lead singer (79-80). Rollins sang lead 81-86. I think Rollins sang this song on the actual album/released version. I always laugh that V&S always attribute lyrics to the lead singer or band like that is who they are...sometimes you can sing about something you do not necessarily believe in or is not exactly you. Hardcore is punk...just stripped down, faster, more aggressive, less poppy than the first wave of punk.

Hardcore was a “post punk” genre, but very close to punk in sound. Thrash metal drew influence from hardcore. The band DRI had an Album called “Crossover” that coined the genre of hardcore/thrash metal hybrid.

this is one of the few songs that had been recorded by Keith Morris, Ron Reyes, Dez Cadena, and Henry Rollins. Along with Police Story and Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie. Clocked In is close but a studio recording with Rollins was never done.

Black Flag had 3 vocalists before Henry Rollins - what you watched was the Ron Reyes version. He was 2 vocalists before Rollins - circa 1980(?) maybe. My favorite version of this song is the one with Keith Morris singing (first vocalist). All that said - it's super cool you are checking out these songs. They were written looong before the whole "incel" thing, and I'm pretty sure that Black Flag would have despised that notion.

yeah Ron was singing here and be is super Hispanic and so is the drummer Robo and boy did this band suffer the wrath of LAPD. every show ended on a police raid even though the band supported racial equality. but Henry also had it rough before Black Flag and S.O.A. he was a I white boy in Washington DC where he was a minority in primarily black town and he was bullied for being white because people assumed he was a racist

Punk was Mohawks, flashy clothes. 1970’s. Kinda British. Hardcore was faster, harder, stripped down, DYI. Sometimes violent. Often political. Sometimes “straight edge” Most of them were on the far left (libertarian socialists/anarchists). Although there were also Nazis skins. On a side not, it was this genre where ANTIFA came from the hardcore scene fighting NAZI skins.
