Darwin thought black people where less evolved than white people so who cares secular or religious either way doesn't look good for black people racism is based on colour and race not religion. Atheism has its own form of indoctrination the constant insults and intellectual bullying is also a form of brain washing and just because you don't believe doesn't mean you are free freedom is a state of mind people think differently, it is just different world views. As for a white Jesus nonsense he is from the middle east he is most likely brown As for black folk not moving forward there's more to that than a white Jesus I'm sure that's just a another lame Atheistic excuse the 20th century is riddled with blood shed the worst in the entirety of human history and that's without religious wars based mostly on secularism. Oppression happens when intolerant dogmatic people are able to mislead majorities doesn't matter secular or religious we have seen this from both sides. On a different note we are free to think and examine for ourselves learn to respect the next person regardless of their belief or lack of and I'm sure we can all get along

yung Eugene Krabs As wise thinkers, most if not all atheists would go along with Carl Sagan who popularised the idea that “extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.” It’s hard to imagine a more extraordinary claim than that some abstract hidden intelligence created a universe of more than two trillion galaxies, with more stars than grains of sand on earth, and then waited more than 13.7 billion years until a tiny single (one in Septillion) blue planet in a remote corner of a single galaxy (one in two Trillion) evolved an atmosphere sufficiently oxygenated to support life, only to then reveal his existence to an assortment of backward violent desert tribal (one in thousands) groups before disappearing again to his home above the clouds.

It's good that religion is on the decline all over the world. The more "intelligent" you are, the less likely you are to be religious: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religiosity_and_intelligence Societies that are religious and societies that are secular have the exact same number of "social ills" - in other words, religion does not make you a better person, and secularism does not make you an evil person. lambdadelta.wordpress.com/2008/09/02/religiosity-appears-to-correlate-negatively-with-social-health/ Let me restate: being religious doesn't make you a better person.

Black, atheist (from a family with missionaries and clergy on both sides), extremely proud. Tired of the trope that to be black means you have to be religious. Tired of the idea that I'm not part of the community or touch with my blackness if I'm not in church rolling in the spirit. I am a black woman and proud of that fact, but a religion that was forced upon my people by white missionaries and colonizers does not speak to me anymore and it never will again. Maybe in the past black people were reticent to speak on their atheism, but I don't know if such is the case anymore.

I am black and a proud atheist and my non-belief in religion has nothing to do with slavery or apartheid of that black people have suffered - my atheism in firmly rooted in the fact that religion (Judaism, Christianity or Islam) makes absolutely no sense to me. I read the bible and I found it wanting and in my opinion god was and is childish, disorganized, vindictive and is not forward thinking - (as is evident in Genesis). In a way I can see how it is possible to be narrow minded in thinking when one becomes religious - it requires that you suspend all logical thinking.

Black and atheist. It wasn't difficult for me, because it was a progression. I was raised in the church, but began to question very early. By age 10, I knew I couldn't believe what I was being taught. By 12, I "officially" left the church. But I still VERY much believed in a god. And I set out to find it. It would take another 20 years of study and practicing various belief systems before I accepted my atheism. But that's another story.

I never thought it was a big issue since my family contains many free, intelligent thinkers. Regardless of someone's belief or lack of, I always focus on a person's character and integrity. I sure can't say that about everyone and will avoid the topic with many of my black people. Once they hear I am not a believer, their tone becomes negative as if they are talking to the a demon. Lol.

These people in this video have been brainwashed since birth just like their ancestors. Saying that someone is going to hell because they don’t believe in your god is ridiculous. If someone is born into another religion they are going to have as strong a faith in their god as anyone else so are they damned to HELL because of where they were born. The big picture here is if our ancestors were never taken as slaves then most of us would be going to hell because we weren’t taught Christianity by slave owners.

I view religions as essentially failed sciences. Religion was simply the discourse humans used when all causes in the universe were opaque. We very naturally as a cognitive and behavioral imperative formed descriptions of the world. We tell ourselves stories about our origins and about where we are going. Those stories, given our pervasive ignorance and our disposition to see agency in the world, entail being in relation to imaginary friends and enemies. We have this parent figure in the sky that watches over us and going to take care of us and demonic presences that we should really be worried about. As we achieved rationality and dozens of specific sciences were birthed, we see religion loosing on every aspect. On the front of human health and disease, science is winning the argument. With religion we used to get a diagnoses of demonic possession. Now we have the science of neurology and we know about epilepsy. It's loosing the argument ethically, and it will loose the argument spiritually. As science progresses it will just make a mockery of our past discourse about Jesus, Buddha, Mohamed and the supernatural. Its a process that we have to be intellectually honest about and give time to unfold. Galileo said it best "the Bible tells you how to go to heaven, and science tells you how the heavens go." He drew a line in the sand which separated spiritual belief and science. This is why our government is established in a secular way. So we can believe what we want and have that right. Our constitution protects this, and mentions nothing about God. So when Christians say "America is a Christian nation." I see hypocrisy and dishonesty. Religions all around the world constitute what we call "belief systems." We have the freedom to believe whatever we want and is a profound right in a free society. It is unstable to build a government on a belief system, due to how many religions there are. What you want is objectively verifiable truth and information around to which we all can agree. Once you have that then go to your church and practice whatever religious tradition your heart desires. But know the difference like Galileo did between how to go to heaven and how the heavens go.

To be fair in history the American blacks who believe in god, were pretty much forced to worship jesus way back then they were brought over from Africa and the Carribbeans due to their gods and belief's viewed as heracy, same when missionaries went over to to said places and used their words and ways to convert them over, thus over time the faith just became part of their way, its the same when the spanish conquistadors came over to south america and north America they converted or force converted the insidious tribes to their catholism thus why the latin community is mostly Catholic, if you wanna be an atheist be an atheist if you wanna believe in a god or god's go for it but they're people of faith and people of secular and we all dont have to follow the same thing, lets mot hate or debate eachother about it just choose what we choose withkut condemning someone for their choice.
