Looks lovely, but it’s not a Black Forest cake, not in the traditional sense anyways. It is also missing a key ingredient, called Kirschwasser or just kirsch, a local cherry schnapps.

I feel like the Germans who are going berserk about "this isn't black forest" are as bad as the Italians going berserk over so called signature Italian dishes, such as bolognese, its ridiculous. Every Italian knows full well that every Italian signature dish varies from town to town, even house to house. Everybodies grandmother makes it better than anyone else etc. Variations on a theme is the entire concept of cooking. Your cake looks amazingly delicious, creative and WELL done. All of that said, I have had a "black forest" cake similar to this in a Michelin starred restaurant, IN MUNICH and when a German waiter says "we have a delightful black forest cake" and brings me something similar to whats here in this video, im good,... not about to start arguing. WELL DONE Denise!!

Great video btw the cake looks absolutely amazing.. I dont bake at all, but my sister does.. Ive been trying to practice different recipes in cooking to add to my arsenal and now am thinking of trying at least do some baking maybe a cake or maybe just a small mug cake since dont really have a good oven or maybe just a microwave tehehehe.. Not to mention all the cooking tools/utensils/equipment/ingredients is not common in our current kitchen i'll have to start turning the corner at the baking aisle.

Not much black forest in it either. The typical ingredients of a black forest cake are chocolate cake, cherries, cherry liquor and whipped cream (most of the time, I've heard some use butter cream, but have not come across one so far). While I agree with my fellow Germans that this isn't a Black Forest Cake, it's an incredibly lovely inspired Black Forest-Like cake! It looks so stunning and modern and frankly delicious. Have you tried it with kirsch to soak the sponge? Or do you not use any alcohol at all in your cakes? I need to try this one, and see what it tastes like. Ugh, it looks so gorgeous.

Thank you 😊💗 I'm very happy that you like it, I hope you'll try to make it again, I'm sure you'll like it a lot. I recommend letting it thaw in the fridge and consuming it a day later so that all the flavors can blend together better, so I would start making it a few days before it will be consumed (given the many rest periods) and then yes, it should be served fresh from the fridge.

I find spray jelly at the supermarket (I live in Italy) maybe you can find a similar product on Amazon. As for the quantity of cherries used for the decoration, it varies according to the diameter of the cake (I made this video a year ago, I can't remember exactly today) you should buy an even more abundant quantity, rather eat the leftover ones apart from 😊

This is amazing. My only critique would be to make the chocolate wrapped around the outside more precise. You can see that it's pretty loose. Probably start with it already on the inside of the spring form pan and put the layers inside of that. But this is an amazing video.

I use Shhet Gelatin 240 bloom and Gelatin Spray is a liquid gelatin in a bottle with dispenser that we find on the market and is ready to use, to glaze the fruits over the cake 😊

This is a really pretty cake, I'm just not sure why you would call it a black forest cake? As someone who grew up in that region, it really doesn't resemble much of the original version. It somehow creates a false image of what a black forest cake is.

Thanks but as you can read both in the title and in the description of the video, I have never referred to the fact that it is the traditional version, but rather a reinterpretation of this type of cake. You can easily reinterpret it in the kitchen without being mentally closed to always wanting to always see the same recipe for everyone, luckily there is more open-mindedness among the professionals..

Don't pour cold liquids onto hot ones that have gelatin or you'll get clots from the mix if the temperature difference is too high. Aside from that gorgeous cake and great idea the crunchy layer.
