Installing a shift knob from BFI
Came with all the tools you’ll need with two exceptions, a flat screwdriver and an Allen wrench.

Removing the old shift knob is easy, the whole process took maybe 20 min snd 10 of that was watching a How-To video.
I couldn’t find a video that didn’t have the leather shift boot so I made this one.

I went on BFI site but could not find the conversion kit 🤷🏼‍♂ … is it ok to fit my 2005 S4 b6 auto cabby you think ? How much they cost please ? Theres info about another firm that does the same, China I think, Supreme something, but could never find their site as it had backdoor domain server to buy through for $60 🤬 Should make no difference on rhd or lhd as it a pull up conversion yea. This is the only video I seen for the A4 B7 Automatic… I need a new shifter in general my oem knob button broke off internally and now my key is stuck in ignition cause my car wasn’t recognizing it was in park smfh.. Hope installing this fixes that and I can finally turn the csr completely off

@@krimepays I would get this over OEM every time. It’s expensive but the feel of it, the look and uniqueness of it sells me.

Awesome video, just installed mine! Are you still able to go over into manual mode and pick gears after install? It won't let me shift up or down in manual tiptronic mode anymore.

That’s a great question. I honestly have not tried. I’ll try when I get back in town and see it it works.

@@gearsandtriggers1343 I drove around with just the smaller plastic base piece and it shifted the car in manual mode. It's plastic covered in what appeared to be a magnetic paint. I sanded the top end down about a half of an inch so the BFI shift knob top screw could line up with the needle eye of the shifter. It now registers the manual shifts and hides the exposed thin rod to the transmission! Mission accomplished.

Hey I just got this. When I move it to the side to shift it myself, it will let me shift it down but not up. Wondering if you had any problems with that? Thanks

Would like to ask if you know the shaft diameter size of the exposed bottom section? I wanted to make a nice finished sleeve to put over it.

I do not know and sadly I don’t own the car anymore so I can’t measure.

@@gearsandtriggers1343 Sorry to bug you again on this. I was curious if you needed to modify the shaft at all to go into the side manual mode in order to shift up and down in the gears? Or did everything work the same as the original set-up?

@@roundbetty05 it all worked just fine, I did have to figure out the proper height on the shifter.

any issues with bfi knob on manual mode shifting up and down using the knob is it engaging into gear without any problems?
