I am Nigerian and my hair type is the typical Afro 4C type. On the other hand the typical Asians/Japanese are used to very straight hair and so this is the case also with the hairstylists over here. Its been years down the line now and i Cant tell you the struggle is over, so i understand the concern of those asking about practical day to day life activities like this over here other than 'book'. In this video, i made an appointment with a hairstylist that has never done a 4C hair type before. This helps give you a realistic view.
I upload new videos every Saturday.

Awwww Chilo!!! THIS is so BEAUTIFUL... what a DIFFERENCE in his RESPECTFUL ATTITUDE about SERVICE And openness to LEARN. I AM Mexican born and risen (my mother is Mexican and my Father is from Haiti 🇭🇹). Just a few days ago I needed a haircut and I am living in the Mexican Caribbean (recently moved) all my life experienced that hairdressers would said things like ohhh your hair is soooo curly, etc. This time an ignorant hairdresser with a terrible manager with non sense of empathy refused to give me the service... the lady that was supposed to cut my hair said ohhhh this afrio hair I haven’t do haircut on someone like you.... pffff Thanks to the refusal.... I ended finding MY GIRL a nice lady with a completely different attitude and paying very little. Thank you for sharing your experience... it reminded me when I lived in China and they where nice!

I had lived in Japan when I was a kid and I loved getting my hair done there. I’ve been told all my life that I was nappy headed by other American stylist and then I go to Japan and they are so gentle with detangling. Even when I got my hair braided, I felt literally no pain. Eventually, my mom found someone who could do a silk press and I looked cute for days. I distinctively remember that every time I got my hair done and it took longer than expected, they would always give me juice and candy. It was a very good experience.

He owned a hair salon in a predominantly African-American area. He was very talented & he understood how to care for Black hair! The relaxer & cut he gave me looked just like the style in the picture I showed him. Now I am all natural & strictly maintain my natural hair, but he was definitely one of my top stylists!

Probably like 0.5 percent if I’m being completely honest lol

Idk how the KZbin algorithm got me here but I’m so thankful. I got a bit choked up watching this. I know it’s just a simple video of going to the salon but to me it went so much deeper. The hospitality to those different from you, looking at something new as amazing, seeing challenges as exciting, the openness to learn. Hair is so dear to black culture and his attitude towards you was everything to me. Everything! God bless him and his business. I hope he reaches success, he deserves it. And thank you for giving those who aren’t black the opportunity to learn.

I have no idea how racism started but the most racist people I’ve met were also extremely egotistical and narcissistic in the first place. It was most likely born from superiority complexes. A lot of people think they’re better than people of their own race for stupid reasons, why not think you’re better than the entire world for simply being different? Sounds absolutely ridiculous but it sure tickles a lot of morons’ jollies...😒
