That part about the cease and desist really got me thinking... Here in Scotland a new law comes into effect this month that can see anyone found guilty of offensive speech jailed for up to 7 years. Yes, offensive speech! So, someone like BGG could potentially claim to be a victim, as they have here, and declare they are deeply offended and hurt by someone's words and get the arrested! This seems utterly nonsensical. Yet, I received a notice from police Scotland that I must remove posts from my FB and X accounts for being anti-inclusive and anti-LGBTQ+ or potentially face prosecution when the law goes live. People who are not actually trans but identify as trans are destroying what it means to be transgender and are also destroying what it means to be a woman - to be a female. Because males cannot become female and vice versa, even after countless surgeries. This is Biological FACT. Yet, should someone find these comments offensive and I keep them up on FB and X and they report me, I can now risk prosecution under this bs Scottish law. Me and many people I know here in Scotland have already received warnings from the government that we have posted "potentially sensitive, harming, and/or offensive" things online that should be removed to avoid someone being offended / hurt and reporting it. Shoukd they report you for something like that, the police now have to act and investigate, with potential for jail time if found to be saying something hurtful, hateful or offensive. The game was a souless "ubisoft like" game with SO SMALL type of enemy that just fell off. The exploration was kinda flat, since finding a place never felt like much of a thing and more like a "oh, i got this on the list now, scratch it and go for the next" more than actually exploring. It was overall a mediocre game with an outstanding atmosphere in it. But that's due the universe it took upon. You could change wands for guns and you would have a bad farcry on your hands. For the heels argument, Buffy did this years ago. She actively went out in dresses in heels to fight vampires, demons, and gods. Selene in Underworld did pretty much the same, but I guess you could call those platform boots if my attire knowledge is right. Women getting dressed up to kick ass is nothing new and has been part of the female power fantasy for a while. They want to look good kicking ass just as much as any dude wants to be either a grizzled old vet (that one might be just me though). Nothing like an old Imperial to teach the Legion how to fight a Nord.

As a woman gamer, and playing games since the age of 5, I can remember playing SMB2 and loving a chance to be Princess Peach and have the extra float in my jump. Playing MK and always choosing Kitana bc she was so beautiful and I wanted the chance to step into her shoes and kick some serious a$$. Games that were as different as The Little Mermaid, Parasite Eve, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3... all of these I loved being a female character that was beautiful and strong in many different ways. It let me escape my own mundane life and live a different one where perfection was easy. I played the Stellar Blade demo to completion and I loved it. The gameplay is fun and engaging, the story is intriguing, the collectibles are lore heavy and there are so many little opportunities for non-linear exploration. Yes, she's a beautiful main character but in my opinion, she should be! She's part of a dystopian future where horribly disfigured creatures have destroyed Earth, and each small bit of beauty in world inhabited by ugly creatures is so welcome! Not to mention that Tachy is also quite pretty and Adam is handsome. The whole game is the perfect way to make both men and women happy while journeying through a fictional world that doesn't have an underlying present day agenda. It just is what it is, in it's own bubble, and those are the stories that stand the test of time.

Anything other than a full blown character creator is by definition exclusive of someone. Forcing a black, female/trans/undecided character is exclusive of a huge proportion of the market and then telling us we're racist because we don't find their narrative any good? Yeah, that's a winning financial strategy there. Me? I tend to run an Asian female character more often than not as I like the aesthetic and usually prefer the female voice acting. That's it. Super Mario / Duck Hunt was my first game and after the NES, I backed Sega for 3 console generations then playstation for 3 generations. Then Nintendo for 2. Now I'm part of The Master PC race.
