My dad was a local musician who was moved to vegas by the mob. They told dad that they do business there and wanted some of their friends there from KC. Those men made vegas what it is today.

That's no exaggeration either. The entire idea came from gangsters. Vegas was a ghost town before gambling. It was a town of only a few thousand people. Even before Kansas City LCN was involved and pre teamster loans, there was a lot of direct investment from gangland figures especially in the Flamingo.

@@stevehope6283 No I don't watch TV at all, it's 2021 dipshit. There are literally monuments built to Bugsy Siegel because the Flamingo kickstarted what became of Vegas (no reputable historical source can leave out the influence of organized crime figures in Vegas). History.com, LV Review Journal, Smithsonian, La Times, every other major chronicler of the city has documented this. Before the huge investments from Siegel's associates Vegas had very small casinos, and it was a very small town. (Investments that were initially thought of as bad investments because they didn't return money, mind you) It's well known that gangsters ushered in an entirely new glamor era in Vegas, which was eventually taken over by corporations that turned Vegas into the multi-Billion dollar industry that it has become. One doesn't have to "watch tv" to know this. That's what dummies like you have to do. Don't assume your limited intelligence applies to others or else you'll underestimate a lot of people. You're clearly one of those people who relies on anecdotes as evidence.

@@stevehope6283 doesn’t take a lot of tv, these are tales told to most people by their older family anyone that grew up in kc knows about this. Sucks how in all the movies everyone thinks it was just chicago and New York. Kansas City mob is still visible today if you know where to look. Shady Lady, Baccala, The Cigar Box, most non chain family owned Italian restaurants are crime family owned. Nick Civella (the young son that is a fuckup) still runs all over the city yammering on about his family legacy while smoking meth. I know because I know people that have smoked meth with him 🤣

They helped build Vegas no doubt but to what it is today is totally false. Howard Hughes are Vegas I to a family friendly resort, before Hughes it was for gamblers and celebs, Howard Hughes change it. Yes kc had a hand in creating Vegas but let keep it real KC did what The Outfit told them to

As an Italian American who is not even fluent in Italian, his pronunciation makes me cringe. Also, it's worth noting that the Black Hand is not the same as Cosa Nostra. The Black Hand is often confused with the mafia or Cosa Nostra because of its Sicilian roots, but the Black Hand referred to extortionate gangs that were largely independent. The reason they were called "the Black Hand" is because the extortionate notes often had a black hand ink blot on them. In some cities, Cosa Nostra actually ran the Black Hand out of town because they attempted to extort the wrong people. I say "they" very loosely as Black Hand gangs were not unified like Cosa Nostra, which was not an official American entity until around 1930. The Black Handers were around mainly before this time in the USA.
