Situated in western South Dakota, the Black Hills National Forest comprises 1.2 million acres of unparalleled beauty. Rising far above the surrounding prairie, the Black Hills even contains the tallest peak east of the Rocky Mountains.
Boasting over 13,000 acres of wilderness, 1,300 miles of streams, 450 miles of hiking trails, and 2 national scenic byways, it’s no wonder why so many consider the Black Hills a recreation paradise.
Whether it’s fishing, hunting, horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, or just about anything else, the Black Hills offers a spectacular backdrop for your favorite outdoor activities. We encourage you to visit this beautiful landscape and experience this truly unique part of America.

Really appreciated the diversity of fire towers there. One of my favorite pieces of public lands architecture.

Yes! So cool. We'll be adding our Flathead National Forest Film here next week which has some of the best fire towers we've ever seen. Real jaw-droppers.

Remember that these are the sacred ancestral lands of the Cheyenne, Arapaho, Lakota, Assiniboine, Omaha, and Kiowa people. Such a beautiful and bountiful place gifted to them by the Creator, or Allah, or God, or whatever, we all need to show some more respect to each other

Humans didn't invade anything. We were wanderers and explorers. The creator put us in this rock together. Stop pretending it belongs to anyone or anyone took it from anyone else. You can pretend to lay claim to whatever you want but this all belongs to the Lord. Including that meat wagon you pilot around.
